"Error 1335" installing FSX

Recommended Posts

I was reinstalling FSX tonight (twice!) and encountered an error both times when the install was almost done. Here is the error message:Error 1335. The cabinet file 'D2Fea-17.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.Abort, Retry, Ignore are the options...Ignore kicks me out of the install. Retry gives the same message. I didn't try Abort but I can guess what that does. Before you tell me my DVD 2 is damaged, let me tell you that I take great care of my stuff, and the DVDs have resided safely in their rigid plastic containers for over 2 years now. How could my DVD get damaged? Or is this something else?Anyone ever seen this error in the FSX install?

Just a tiny fingerprint on a DVD can cause a problem. Get some DVD cleaning stuff, clean it, and try again. If it really is damaged, you can contact Microsoft and they will send you a replacement.Best regards,Jim Young

Hope you get your problem solved
Yes I am without FS and it is no good.I had googled just "Error 1335" and got info about MS Office problems, so I gave up on it. Duh, I did not think to Google *FSX* Error 1335. It was very late though and I was very tired.I am going to clean the DVD first, and hope that works. Thank you for the info.

Not to overlook the obvious, but have you cleaned your DVD's lens lately? :(

I'll be able to tell you later, when I have a chance to re-try. ;) I can say this though, I have owned optical drives for 16 years now, and have never had to clean their lens. You guys are great though, you jump right to it immediately if someone asks a question. I will try everything all of you have mentioned, and I will post here the results...And I get what I deserve, trying to install FSX at 1:00 a.m. last night :) It's dedication, I tell you.

I can report that I got FSX to install over the weekend...after cleaning DVD2 with Optrix:http://store.acousticsounds.com/browse_det...?Title_ID=16871Now, my wireless adapter on my ASUS motherboard is non-functional and is probably destroyed. I'm having a some bad luck it seems!
