July 26, 200223 yr On the 757, what is the CORRECT way to dial in an ILS frequency once an arrival runway has been given by ATC? Do you use the FMC radio page? It seems when I select the active runway (in my Arrival page of the FMC - & then make it active by pressing the execute key) it draws the runway in white dashed lines in the map view - BUT! The ILS frequency is still not made active by this move. What is the correct way to get it to show up so it appears in the ILS mode on the HIS? It seems like I have been trying to dial it in on the lower panel's ILS mode screen (the little one below that usually has 2 white dashes in it. Is this what I am supposed to be doing? Also, what are the little (usually blank) screens for on the glare sheild used for for that matter (the ones that say frequency & course)? I guess I do not know the correct wat to make an ILS frequency active on my HIS, & for that matter, what the difference is between the upper glaresheidl & lower pedastal frequency screens. Thanks again,Chris Catalano
July 26, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hey Chris,As I understand it, the Arrival Page on the FMC draws the runway on your Map page as well as putting the ILS frequency on the Init Ref /Approach Page. Unlike the Airbus, which can tune its ils remotely, the 757 ILS must be tuned manually on the ILS Control panel on the Center Pedestal. The panels on the glareshield are the VOR control heads for Manual navigation should both FMC's fail enroute or if you manually wanted to check fixes. most of the time they stay in auto and only display Dashes :)RegardsPaul:-cool Paul Gollnick Manager Customer/Technical Support Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
