October 12, 200223 yr I've got a problem with my 757 that I don't believe I've seen posted elsewhere. When taxiing for takeoff to KLAS runway 25 R or L, the sim locks up tighter than a drum trying to turn through heading 097 or 098. On certain occasions arriving at KLAS, the sim has even locked up in flight, e.g. flying the Skebr1 arrival to KLAS 25R, on about the same bearing. Mostly the problem crops up on the ground however. Given the layout of McCarran Int'l, a turn through these headings is unavoidable.I've found I can sometimes force the A/C through this 'bearing barrier' by taxiing at higher than desirable speeds and making the turns very hard, but my R/W training rebels at treating the aircraft so, and besides the 757 is really kind of sucky as an F1 racer.I don't get this problem with PMDG's 777, nor with the other Fly!II aircraft. There is no error message generated, and the only recovery I've found is to force a system shutdown. The system is a Micron ClientPro CN, upgraded to 1.0 GHz, with 512 Mb RAM. Two (2) 20Gb hard drives, one with Win98SE, one with WinXP Pro. The sim is (for now) on both drives, and the problem occurs either way also.Any ideas?- Dave Reed
October 12, 200223 yr Commercial Member This sounds like a candidate for a 757 reinstall. I know some other strange behaviors were fixed by re-installing the 757 so hopefully that will correct your problem. October 12, 200223 yr A couple of other things to try as well.Check the modules folder for dll files that you no longer use.Try removing the airport text file from the PMDG folder. I've had cases where a syntax error in this file causes lockups.Andrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH
October 12, 200223 yr The only airport text file I have is the one with the SIDs and STARs in it. Is that the one you mean?Hmm, well that file does have other problems, such as the STARs are in the text but don't come up on the airplane's computer. In that case, I may have a problem with my KPHX file too. Not the best situation when you fly for America West! Thanks, I'll see if that does it. Re-installing had no effect on the problem.- Dave Reed
October 13, 200223 yr DaveYes. That's the one. I had problems flying from EGPF to ENCN. Just after takeoff from Glasgow the computer would lock solid. Careful examination of the ENCN file revealed that I'd made a mistake that wasn't being detected when the file was loaded. Since correcting this it hasn't happened again. If you're not seeing some procedures on the CDU when they're in the file then this is a strong suspect.Hope this helpsAndrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH
October 15, 200223 yr Hi, Andrew -Thanks for the info. I'll get on to trying to debug that text file tomorrow or the day after, as soon as I re-install and re-patch my Fly!II, again. I installed a second hard drive with WinXP as the OS, but as I didn't replace the original Windows98SE intallation on the first hard drive, I had to do a fresh install of the programs I wanted to use on XP; the patching didn't go exactly right, and the WX was finally such that I got the fOG.raw crash to desktop. I'd better unpack and set up my CD burner after I fix it this time. Grr...- Dave Reed KLAS
