Unable to Extract 757-200 Download

Featured Replies

Hi Folks, I know it's New Years Eve but I am impatient to see my PMDG 757-200 that I purchased on Sunday. Here is the problem: The download went with no problems, the file is PMDG757_214.Zip, the size is 24,164KB, My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition so I am using the Zipped File Extraction program that comes with it. I double click on the zipped file & a window opens showing me the 757base214readme.txt & PMDG_757base214.exe files. When I tell it to Extract All I get the Compressed (Zipped) File Wizard & it asks me to accept the directory it has chosen to extract the files to. I accept & it starts to extract the files. The bar graph at the bottom shows it quickly gets to about 50% then stops & I get an error dialog box saying "Error reading the file". I have had the download reset & downloaded it again with the same results.Any help would be greatly apreciated.Happy New Year. Desmond

DesmondIt might be a long shot, but have you tried using Stuff-it Expander from Aladdin to unzip it. It is a freeware program I knid of got used to using a Mac for so long and I personally have had better luck unzipping files with it, rather than the stock Windows XP extractor. Here is the link if you want to try it[http://www.stuffit.com/expander/index.html]Good LuckPaul:-cool

Hello Mr. Desmond W......and Happy new yearExactly the same thing happend to me, though I have WindowsMillennium. I then got a new download, but used a fast connection at work....more than 100Kb.pr.second.....and this time the file was extracted and installed with succes. This may not help you, but could maybe shed some light on the extraction problem. Jesper

Hi Paul & Jesper, thank you very much for your fast & enlightening responses, I think you may have hit the nail on the head Jesper about the faster download speed as my download speed is only about 15KB per second, & I did not know about the Stuffit program Paul so I think I will add it to my Utilities. To fill you in, shortly after I posted this, Tech Support from PMDG got back to me & after trying some different things they gave me a Download from a different server & that solved my problem, so now I am going to install my new plane. I do thank you so very much for your help.A very happy New Year to you all. Desmond
