for those that buy planes and download

Featured Replies

i got 3 payware planes. and i got all of them by package. and with the 737 im thinking about getting it via download. cuz this project looks so promising that i dont know if ill manage to bear the wait of the package to come out and get to my house. i was going nuts waiting for my cs727 to get to my house. is downloading better than package? would u be able to save the download version to a disk? how long would it take to download the plane if i got AT@T broadbamd?Adam

I actually prefer downloadable products. (having cable modem does bias the descision slightly though ;) ) The one CD addon plane I have, 767PIC, I have actually misplaced the CD for several times. The last time it happened, upon finding it, I extracted the contents of the CD to a ZIP file on my harddrive and now I don't have to worry about it. About a month ago I made a couple backup CDs of all the aircraft I've purchased via download. In short - yes, go for it!

This really depends, some payware are download only and others offer both options for purchase. Some provide handy manuals and other goodies with their boxed versions, so when I have the option, I would opt for the box version, but then again, if I would have to wait for weeks for it to arrive (not at my local mall or Fry's) and I can download it in 5 min or so on my cable, I don't think I could stand the thought, so I would buy the download version. Ok, here's what to do, BUY BOTH! [h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. what if, like the boxed has goodies and a nice printed out manual and u buy the boxed, while you are waiting do u think the producer would give u the link to the download version aircraft so u dont have to go crazy waiting for the plane?Adam

Adam, Ummm, nope that wouldn't happen ;) To be honest,in todays market, you never get a nice printeed manual anyway(not even in fs :-hmmm). And as for the goodies, well the producer would almost certainly post them on the website. I havent bought a boxed product since Pic767. I have downloaded so much that it takes 3 cds. In short, you have broadband, you can backup your product, why bother waiting? Because you definatly wont get any more waiting for the boxed ;) RegardsJohn Mc Avinuehttp://www.bavirtual.co.ukP 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

yeah, I also prefer downloading even I'm on 56k. If I want a CD I just burn on to a disk myself :-) . I prefer a product that can be downloaded as a single installer file (like flight one software). VatinVTBD

Problem for me is I do not have a credit card due to the fact that I am still studying so it will take some time for me to get one. So I depend on the boxed versions and I just hope all products will be available as a boxed version in the future too.Matthias

hi I also don't have a credit card. Luckyly that my local bank has an "internet banking" service where they issue a credit card number and deduct money directly from your account when you spend money on the internet. That's how I buy FS addons from time to time, when money comes my way ofcause. :-) oh and BTW, you will never find a single box of addon sell anywhere where I live.MarvelVTBD

Hi "Airbus Lover"I already bought by the two ways, and I think that download is better, specially regarding the support: you get it faster. See for example the PSS 747/777: the patches for FS2002 were available far more sooner to direct costumers that bougth by download, than the Just Flight costumers. In the end I bougth the airplanes again from PSS. And some developers doesn't support the boxed versions for plenty of reasons. The support comes from the boxed version editor, that usually it isn't good. The only package I prefered in boxed version, was the DF737 because of the video, but when I decided to buy that a/c that package already was available, unless I had gone to download. So, if you have broadband, go for it. I recommend it without a question. I just bought CS727 by download, and I don't see where I was lossing something.Cheers,Miguel
