April 25, 200323 yr Once you release the B737-800's do you intend to offer AA? I know they've forbidden payware use of their livery, but what about releasing a freeware version of it along with the base pack? Just wondering... Would be nice to be able to start flying right away and not have to paint it. :-lolCheers,Daniel Pimentel/FFGPainter. :)http://www.aa.com/content/images/home/homeLogo.gif______________________________"Whenever you find yourself in the side of the majority it's time to pause and reflect" - Mark Twain
April 25, 200323 yr Marc:I see you modified the post (I assume a reply) but it doesn't seem to show. Try that again. :) Thanks in advance for the reply. :7Cheers,Daniel Pimentel/FFGPainter. :)http://www.aa.com/content/images/home/homeLogo.gif______________________________"Whenever you find yourself in the side of the majority it's time to pause and reflect" - Mark Twain
April 25, 200323 yr G'Day Daniel.Im not 100% sure. But I think they said that they intend to release a Paint Kit for each model. I would say that someone would paint AA within the first 10 seconds of its release. lol.I also think they said somewhere that they will release FREE liveries for a lot of airlines from their website. (A member of PMDG please correct me if I am wrong). Hope this helps.Cheers,Ryan
April 25, 200323 yr Commercial Member Daniel-One of the base requirements that we decided upon at the beginning of development: User repaint options. We want the user community to be able to interact with our airplane by putting any type of livery on the airplane that is desired. In a number of cases, PMDG is producing liveries in order to give the customer immediate access to many of the global airlines flying this wonderful airplane! In light of AMR's stance on the use of it's trademarks in a hobby, it may/may not be possible for PMDG to produce or host an AMR livery on our site. Even though we would not charge you for the specific download of a livery, liveries produced or distributed by PMDG do not fit the reasonability test of "free work" because we are a commercial entity that produces a product in a for-profit environmet. This would mean that even a product enhancement given at no cost would still be considered an inducement for commercial purposes. That being the case....we may or may not host an AMR livery.... Obviously- if you see one- then we decided it was acceptable. If you don't- then we decided it wasn't.I have sent this question off to legal and asked for their input. Whatever guidance we receive is how we will proceed. Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
April 26, 200323 yr G'Day Robert.Just want to clear things up.You say that you probably wont be able to host their livery on your website. But can users make their own AA livery and then upload it to Avsim or flightsim? Cheers,Ryan
April 26, 200323 yr Commercial Member Ryan-Exactly!I've asked for clarification as to whether PMDG can host such a repaint.... But even if we can't- a user may upload it to other sites.... Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
April 26, 200323 yr Hey:Thanks for the clarification. Rest assured that if you release a paintkit I'll whip an AA up. lol :) Tested new metals with dynamic shine on my 757's. :)Cheers,Daniel Pimentel/FFGPainter. :)http://www.aa.com/content/images/home/homeLogo.gif______________________________"Whenever you find yourself in the side of the majority it's time to pause and reflect" - Mark Twain
April 27, 200323 yr I think Daniel and I are going to have a fight over this one, as to have plans for an AA 738. I'm currently in the "R&D" phase trying to sort out my color management and getting the right amout of shine (not an easy task) :-hahNick :-abduct
April 28, 200323 yr Nick:No problem man. :) Diversity of choice if always good in my opinion. :) I'm not gonna fight over anything, just release the True Chrome version of the livery. :) Gotta complete the series during summer... Can't wait to see your rendition though. Here's a shot of what my metal will look like. Of course, it all depends on what intensity of dynamic shine pmDG choose to use. I prefer my metals without alpha when the model has dynamic shine.http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/5944.jpgCheers,Daniel Pimentel/FFGPainter. :)http://www.aa.com/content/images/home/homeLogo.gif______________________________"Whenever you find yourself in the side of the majority it's time to pause and reflect" - Mark Twain
April 28, 200323 yr No worries Daniel, I'm currently testing my American Airlines projects on the meljet 777 since it uses both dynamic shine and normal static shine once I get the winning combination for the 737 I send you some screen shots to see what you think ;-) :-hahNick :-abduct
