MORE bad press for PMDG!

Featured Replies

I am not to sure what you can do about this but someone is writting a public artical on PMDG without your permission. He is writting an artical on how PC based flight simulation is too real and that it could be used to train terrorists and he uses PMDG's 737 as an example. He even has links to your site. I know the artical is a bit silly, and to suggest that someone can fly a real plane based on PC based simulation is not really true, but anyway....The thread is here: http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.ph...&threadid=91170His email is here: [email protected] thought you might be interestedRichard

It isn't exactly about PMDG. He is referencing PMDG for the igh-quality and realistic representation of commercial aircraft in a home-based computer simulation. He is writing an article based on flight simulation in general.

I think it is okay because they are just talking about it in general on an aviation website. The other thing is all the people posting on there are proving him wrong and disagreeing. He is also just asking a question. I cannot stand these guys though, flying an a/c is not really that hard, anyone can do it. Its landing and procedures when emergencies occur that requires thought and skill. No PC computer can accurately depict that. Its for enjoyment and learning systems. But if anyone wanted to find that out they could do so without flightsim. I would not [email protected]

Richard-Thanks for the "heads up." Upon reading through the post and it's reply's, it would appear that the original poster is writing an article that poses the hypothesis that desktop flight simulation is harmful to national security of the US and other nations because a terrorist might learn how to operate an airplane.Reading the replies of the readers, it would appear that the "man on the street" disagrees (as we do) that flight simulation is a cause for concern in the world of terrorism.I'm not sure what professional or educational standard this individual author has, but it will be interesting to see if the final piece represents a fir and balanced viewpoint- or whether it is an effort to exhort his own opinion. For every perceived danger there is always someone out there extoling the virtues of protecting people by limiting their knowledge. As a free thinking, critically minded individual- it has always been my feeling that there is more to fear in those who would restrict my knowledge- than those who might use knowledge against me.To follow the logic of such an argument: They should ban accurate maps so terrorists can't find their way around or ban roads, so terrorists can't drive, or ban food, so it cant be poisoned....

Yeah, now I have seen the post unfold I can see that it is a sensible debate-no worries, but before the replies I thought it would turn out differently. Never mindRichard
