July 1, 200322 yr Hi,First I have to tell that I am not affiliated with PMDG in any sense except being customer.I am bedazzled at how many persons jump up and complain about autopilot, FMC, startup/shutdown procedures, etc. I find it rather incredible! Are you type-rated 737NG pilots? I guess most are NOT! Do you know the AOM by heart from before? Guess not...I have tried out new 737NG and I did not have one of the problems some people complain about (e.g. suicidal VNAV dive, SPD HLD not engaging, etc.). I find three reasons for all of this hassle that some persons make:1. No manual released (it is said it will be out on 7.7.2003.),2. Persons think they know to fly/manage all aircraft types, and3. People have so many addons and hardware installed/configured (eps. FSUIPC) in strange ways that it can and does influence the behaviour of the 737NG. Not to mention all joysticks, controls, etc.Despite that I am familiar in-depth with 737-300/400/500, ATR72/200, and B727-200 (yes, I posess the real AOMs, FCTMs, etc.), yet I am complete newbie regarding 737NG. I am now in training phase for 737NG.Thus, I have not even scratched the surface of the systems modelled here. What to do? Please, please, wait for manuals to be released, read them, exeperiment, and then please post your questions. This is NOT intended as rant but just to try to shed some light on "issues" that are more of user created issues.Thank you,Aleksandar - Greetings from up north!
July 1, 200322 yr i am not new to the NG's, i do posess the full 737th AOM and CBT's and there are some functions that are not operating properly. no need of a manual, if a gauge is missing or you can't turn off an APU X-Plane 11.3x / DCS 2.5.4 / P3Dv4.5 / Aerofly FS 2 Win10-x64 | ASUS Z270E | Intel i7-7700K @4.5GHz | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB DDR4 | 6TB SSD Samsung 850 Pro | ASUS GTX 1080 ROG STRIX 8GB DDR5X | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Combat Pedals | Oculus Rift CV1
July 1, 200322 yr Aleksandar, do you think that with the knowledge of flying DF737 you can start flying 737TNG much easyer.I was comparing 737 classics with NG and I foud out that tey are almost the same. Overhead is almost the same, center console, FMC.. Except ND and PFD are new.So, I came to the conclusion that it should be possible to fly 737 NG without manuals. Is that true?Regards, Nejc
July 1, 200322 yr Nejc, well it is possible, but not if you want to perform real airline procedures and operate the plane similarly to its real-world counterpart. The manuals will include detailed procedures to help you use the plane in the most realistic manner. Also, the operations manual will give you the oppotunity to explore the product's full potential.Cheers!
July 1, 200322 yr I never indicated that PMDG 737NG is simulating all the systems found on real 737NG. I was just implying that some users acuse software whereas they cause the problems themselves.I can turn off the APU. Problem is that, seems like, PMDG forgot to make cursor show -, so you have to cycle through + in order to turn it off. Thanks,Aleksandar - Greetings from up North!
July 1, 200322 yr Zdravo Nejc!I did not say that you cannot fly the 737NG if you know the classic 737. I was refering to the more complex systems that lie behind. Heck, if they would allow to fly 737NG directly from a classic 737 without requirement for type-rating, etc. I think a lot of pilots would be happy (at least 2 that I know! :)Thanks,Aleksandar - Greetings from up North!
July 1, 200322 yr Now if there are real issues they WILL be fixed, we, the beta testers who include real world NG drives have spent countless hours on perfecting this aircraft. There will be many here who are use to MS default AP-Flight models who have no idea how to operate a 737 NG or how it really handles VNAV etc. So take time to fly it like it was meant- like the real deal, and you will see many of these issues disappear. That's not to say that there are NO ISSUES that might have been overlooked. [h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]The Next Great one?
