July 9, 200322 yr Yeoch. This would be a very long answer. And you would probably still have many questions. Most of us who are familar with Boeing FMC's have questions. :)Maybe PMDG has a tut they can post later. Do you have specific questions or just need a total run through?Best,Bill
July 9, 200322 yr I just need some help on how to get the aircraft to fix onto the flight plan. I did get the FMC to take the route, and the route does show on the Screen, I could not get the aircraft to lock on.
July 9, 200322 yr You have to engage LNAV, then the plane will follow the flightplan that you have in the FMC.Regards,Bjorn
July 9, 200322 yr Commercial Member One of those "Precision Manuals" would really come in handy for this... :-hahHere's the quick and dirty method:Ensure you've turned the generators on up on the overhead if you just loaded the panel...1. On the POS INIT page, type in the airport you're starting from (ie KLAX) and enter it into the place provided. Then, click on the LSK (Line Select Key) next to the LAT/LON for the airport you just entered (it's the bottom one) - this copies it into the scratchpad - now click it into the IRS prompt on the same page.2. Proceed to the RTE page - enter your origin (should already be there in the scratchpad) and destination ICAO codes. Enter the takeoff runway. (you can use the DEP ARR page alternatively too) Press next page and enter your route. (I'm assuming you're not using SID/STAR files, otherwise you'd use the DEP ARR page to set up the initial and ending parts of the route) Enter waypoints onto the right side in the TO column, if you want to enter an airway, place it in the VIA column on the next line down from the waypoint that you're entering it from, then place the point where you're getting off the airway directly across from it in the TO column. When you have the route entered in - press the LSK next to ACTIVATE and then press the EXEC key.3. Proceed to the PERF INIT page, enter 110 (or what you set in the load manager if you changed it) for your ZFW (Zero Fuel Weight), set reserves 2, cost index 65 (not modeled yet), and set your cruise altitude on the upper right LSK.4. On the N1 LIMIT page leave everything as is and continue to the TAKEOFF page. Input 5 for flaps, and click on each of the LSK's next to the V-speeds to bring them up. You should now see PRE FLT COMPLETE.5. Set the MCP (Mode Control Panel) SPD to your V2 speed (FMC TAKEOFF page), set the HDG to the runway hdg (or as assigned by ATC), and set the alt to either your cruise or what ATC cleared you to if lower. Arm the flight director and autothrottle switches. Lower the flaps to 5 degrees. Check the trim (T panel) and set it to about 5.5.6. Time to takeoff - slowly advance the throttle until the engines stabilize around 60-70% N1 and then press the hidden TOGA button which is the upper left screw on the MCP. Rotate smoothly at VR and pitch up to hold V2+15 which the FD bars should command. At 400ft (look at the radio altimeter on the PFD) press CMD/A on the MCP and engage LNAV and VNAV. The FMC should take over and begin flying you on your way! Remember to raise the flaps according to schedule...Hope I didn't miss anything, that was all from memory!Ryan Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
July 9, 200322 yr Some added magic : if you just click next to gross weight or ZFW with nothing in the scratchpad, it will assign current value...(That's the fairy dust company option, same with VSpeeds);-)anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com
