July 14, 200322 yr Dear Pilots, i know these questions have been asked before, but i couldn't seem to get the answer to my questions, therefore can u kindly anser me once again;)When i switch on the a.p.u no sound comes and its kinda irritating :(. Another thing is that there isn't a switch to switch on the flood light at night. I have to do via the L key on my keyboard. Is this right? CheersLuke;)The right flyer!!
July 14, 200322 yr Hi LukeI think this has to do with the flightdeck being in front of the aircraft and the APU being in the aftmost part of the aircraft. I'm not sure, but I don't think you can actually hear the APU on the flightdeck. ;-)Regards Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
July 14, 200322 yr Yeah thanks for the post and any way when i go out in spot view the sound does not sound neither is this normal?CheersLukeThe right flyer!!
July 14, 200322 yr Luke,- Can use 'Shift L' to switch on only panel flood lights (night textures). Currently there is no panel switch.- APU sound cannot not be heard on the flight deck so is modeled correctly.- External APU sound was not modeled in this version.Thx,George George Morris
July 14, 200322 yr The APU is not audible from inside the plane...A/C and electronics are tho...I don't think that the external sound is as important as the internal sounds, I haven't witnessed any sound package, which had external APU sounds...Boaz...
July 14, 200322 yr Regarding the flood light I use L to switch it on but its kinda irritating not having a switch like the DF737, i hope it will be implemented in the patch.LukeThe right flyer!!
July 14, 200322 yr "- External APU sound was not modeled in this version."I think this had something to do with Occupational Health and Safety. If you've ever walked past the tail of a real 737 on the ground, you'll know what I mean ;-) (It's louder than a 747-400 APU*)PMDG couldn't afford to suppy a set of ear muffs with every copy.Cheers.Ian (Tongue firmly in cheek) R.*Of course, the 747-400 APU exhaust is much further away from the listener :-P
July 14, 200322 yr Yeah, the APU for the 737 is pretty loud. Oddly enough the 732 combi that the airline I work for flies is quieter than the 73G/9's. However, the MD-80 trumps them all.TimPS When in the heck is the AS livery gonna be back up?
July 15, 200322 yr ok....So when you walk into a real NG. You can hear a whining sound and some other stuff. I always thought it was the APU. If it isnt, what is it? Yeah...probably a really stupid question.Cheers.Ryan
July 15, 200322 yr That could very well be what you are talking about. I don't really consider it a whining sound as much as a wooshing sound. Do you hear that sound from when you get on till you get off? How about during engine start? Tim
July 15, 200322 yr well once the engines start that basicly all you hear, lol. I just know that I can hear something before engine start and after engine cut-off. Ive always liked walking into the aircraft and hear it. Dunno why, lol.Cheers,Ryan
July 15, 200322 yr "So when you walk into a real NG. You can hear a whining sound and some other stuff."If you're at the front door, more likely it's the sound of the aircon packs running, Ryan ;-) Those pack turbines spin faster than the engines... I don't have the values handy for the 737, but on the 767, they run at 48,000rpm!Cheers.Ian.
