July 14, 200322 yr When I have programed the FMC, it says I need to have a trim on 5.25, but how do I trim the aicraft? If I use the standard buttons on the keyboard, I can't get it right.Marius
July 14, 200322 yr Hi Marius,If I understand your question correctly you are asking how to know that you have set your trim to 5.25?On the throttle quadrant, on the left hand side, you will see the trim scale. Once you have this open just use your regular assigned buttons to adjust the trim you want.
July 14, 200322 yr I have the same problem. I think I have set up the FMC correctly. When I try to rotate at Vr nothing happens. When I trim the a/c up at that point it starts to rotate. Somehow the trim value is always 5.25 - never seen another value. Is this correct? Btw. I'm using the 600 with a ZFW of 110000 and 12000 lbs fuel. Gives me a Vr of around 122 (don't remember exactly at the moment). Thomas
July 14, 200322 yr The 5.25 value the FMC shows looks grayed out. I'm guessing it is not implemented like the other grayed out FMC items. Correct me if I'm wrong PMDG.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
July 15, 200322 yr If the 5.25 value is just a dummy value this explains why the aircraft does not want to go up ... I'll try a little bit more. Thomas
July 15, 200322 yr Commercial Member Gents,The 5.25 value is static. Under most conditions the -600 needs 4 1/2 trim units for rotation and the -700 5 1/2. This is modelled as per Boeing manual(s). Something else : the plane will lift-off at about 8.5 to 9.5 deg AoA (little white circular indication upper right corner of PFD). Again this is modelled exactly as in the manual. That means that from "ROTATE" to lift off it will take 3+ seconds if trimmed correctly. Back-pressure should be adjusted accordingly, slowwwwly but firmly. July 15, 200322 yr VangelisI love this aircraft but I do find a weakness in the trim area. Regardless of the trim setting, I cannot get any form of rotation until around 170 kts when the VR correct setting states 132 kts, I have to give a lot of negative trim to achieve rotation.-700 ZFW: 113400Lbs - all up - 142000LbsBob Wright
July 15, 200322 yr Hi Bob,What is the "all up" weight of 142,000lbs you mention?Unless I'm mistaken the Maximum Takeoff Weight for the -700 is 133,000 and, if I understand correctly, this is the gross weight of the aircraft (ZFW+Fuel At Takeoff). So if you are trying to takeoff at 142,000 you are overweight. If I've misunderstood I appologize.
July 15, 200322 yr Bob-The 133k takeoff weight you refer to is the standard weight. There is an increased gross weight which can be "bought."THat weight is 154,500 lbs for the -700. I think everything is set up for the higher gross weights except the manual! The -600 even has thehigher thrust rating that comes with the IGW model. To get the weights you can go to airliners.net and then to the aircraft data and history section. Hope this helps...Dave ColavecchioKOXC
July 15, 200322 yr Hmmm... Doesn't seem to be just the manual. PMDG's load manager has the MTOW listed at 133,000.Yet another airline's flight manual for the 737-700 lists the weight limitations as:Taxi Weight 155,000Takeoff Weight 154,500Landing Weight 128,000ZFW 120,500Perhaps someone from PMDG could comment if their plane is setup for the MTOW of 133,000 or if it is capable of 154,500.If it is limited to 133,000 as per the manual and load editor, then that may be part of Bob's rotation/trim problem.
July 15, 200322 yr I agree Murf-Some clarification would be nice, but not the biggest issue on thetable now...DaveKOXC
July 15, 200322 yr "Some clarification would be nice, but not the biggest issue on the table now..."Very true. Just add it to the nice to know list.Just took a look at the aircraft.cfg and noticed this linemax_gross_weight=153500.000
July 15, 200322 yr If I don't remember wrongly, they stated that they opted for the base model values that Boeing provides for the 600/700 series from the factory. So the max weight in the load-editor is the max that you can load. In this case a 142000lbs gross weight is over max tow, thus the problem with the plane not rotating at VR. Regards,Bjorn
July 16, 200322 yr Commercial Member Bob,Something is not Wright...Negative trim ? You mean positive trim (trim up). Another thing : no load managers apart from PMDG's own I hope. Tested a few and they send the CoG to either -200% or +60%. Nothing wrong with the software but compatibility problems with our NG you see. Nevertheless, planes don't fly this way. I am in contact with the author of what I think is one of the best of them (ACLoader, payware) and we will sure resolve this. In the meantime if changed your aircraft.cfg is changed email me ([email protected]) and I can send mine. If you keep havng problems email anyway.MAX ZFW : This largely depends on the company. Generally speaking Boeing quotes three basic configurations: -600 124500, 144000 and 145000-700 133500, 153500 and 155000 There can be ofcourse numerous variations. The CFM56 22 and 24K engines respectively can handle all of them, meaning you can get pretty good climb/cruise performance stats. The entry in the aircraft.cfg affects nothing. The only limiting factors are the aerodynamics and the engine model which are very accurate. Hope this helps,Cheers,Vangelis====================================== E. M.
