Hi Jamie,>1. I do not know how to start with a cold and dark cockpit? You need to save a situation with a cold and dark cockpit. If you do a search there have been a few threads suggesting different ways of doing this.>2. FMS-I can't get it to accept my POS on POS init. There is a short cut on the FMC to help enter the current position. I am not home right now but I believe if you double click on the last position entry, the value will default to your current location (one of Anthony's infamous fairy dust features ;-) ). You can then click on it again to copy into the scratch pad then into the pos init entry. Also, you can use the 'Shift Z' function and type into the FMC the value for your position ex: 'N44 32.56 W84 20.51'. Another 'Fairy Dust Feature' is to click on the bar on the right side of the FMC and this will turn on the 'Direct Keyboard Entry' function to allow you to type in values rather than clicking on the keypad (much faster when entering FMC data manually and not using fairy dust options).Hope this is helpful,George

On the POS INIT page, press L(as in line)SK 1L, and then hit the LSK by the POS entry(3 or 4R?)That'll get ya your lat/lon entered :)

Well, I think the issue here is that you can't enter a position manually. I tried all sorts of entries but the FMC won't accept anything I enter. Manually entering your position can come in handy when your airport is not in the database. Or if the gate is not in the data base if you're standing on a big airport.Regards

right i have been doing that, sorry it is my fault i left out the last line that i meant to type, and it says Re-enter IRs position or something like that, thanks for the cold and dark cockpit tip, really helps!

Mats we posted within a second of each other, it seems like you have the same thing i do

Jamie and Matt,Hmmm, I have been successfully entering in positions manually on almost every flight (using 'Shift Z' from FS).Here is how I do it. 'N9999.99W9999.99' just like FS displays. How are you guys entering?George

Hmmm, never tried it with s ;-)From what I understand the real FMC accepts the following syntax NLLmm.ssELLLmm.ss or something similar so that was what I was trying to enter. Thanks for the hintRegards
