Descent Before T/D

Featured Replies

When flying the 737NG with the FMC and autopilot in LNAV and VNAV on, ATC cleared me to descend before the T/D showed up on the NAV display. How can I make the plane start on the descent path early? I tried just rotating the MCP altitude selector to the assigned altitude, but that resulted in a rediculously high descent rate, and very high airspeed that the autopilot couldn't seem to control... If somebody could tell me the proper procedure, I'd really appreciate it!Thanks,MarcMarc Gibsonhttp://www.freewebs.com/flightsimcfi/http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

DES NOW in the FMC is the preferred way when using VNAV. I believe it starts a 1000fpm descent until intercepting the VNAV idle descent path. This is not implemented presently, but it is listed in Lefteris' FMC patch fix list pinnned near the top of the forum, so hopefully we'll soon have it.Lee Hetherington (KBED)

Just keep in mind that on the 737NG, LVL CH is used for LARGE altitude changes whereas V/S for SMALL changes....[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]The Next Great one?
