July 31, 200322 yr Great plane, great piece of software... But a lot of questions here.1- What happened to the manual??? Oh yes, I have downloaded the manual, installed it and took it a step further and had a copy of it printed. But it seems there is something missing. What happened to the FMC-manual...? I find the buttons and LSK explained but how to create a flightplan??? Nowhere to be seen or I must be completely blind. I can't see a novice simmer get away with this one if the most important piece of manual is missing.2- I find an IRS-panel... but is it working? I don't think so because when I open it there are some knobs and switches missing (not even drawn when I come to think of it)3- On the opening screen of the FMC there is a line with boxes (and that means they have to be filled with some kind of data) asking for the IRS position. Now I can guess alright what kind of data but I can't find the syntax of that data. How is it supposed to be filled in. I have tried (I think so) every possible way of noting down the position but either there is no response, or there is that message that says "re-enter irs-position", or there is the message "invalid data"...Anybody there with some answers...?Luc "glaudrung" Brusselmans
July 31, 200322 yr Hi Luc,Everything you wanted to know is listed in the 737NG FAQ located in this forum. It will explain everything.Happy flying!!Regards,Lennart
July 31, 200322 yr 1) go to wilco's website and download the 767PIC FMC manual. You'll find most of your answers there.2) There is none! apparently this is planned to be modeled on the -800/-900.3) See 1. Also try hitting lsk1 (brings current coordinates, lsk1 again (move it to scratchpad) and than to the lsk corresponding the empty squares.regards//Mike
July 31, 200322 yr Will Precision Manuals Development Group be putting together their own FMC manual?Lee Hetherington (KBED)
July 31, 200322 yr Of course they will, when they got time for it. You won`t believe how good the Fly II 757/777 manuals were. Correction: Are. But if I were them right, now, my last priority would be the manual. First you finish the plane. Then the manual. Not the opposite way...!
July 31, 200322 yr Most products in this world come with manuals when you buy them. Most payware FS add-ons are the same. Sometimes the manuals are even available before the product release (so users can read it ahead of time).I disagree with your order. First you finish the product. Then you sell it.I'm certainly not advocating holding up the patch for a manual, but I was disappointed upon purchasing the product to find that the manuals were not available for another week, and then there was no FMC manual included.I know I'll get slammed by the PMDG faithful for expressing my opinion, but hey, I'm a paying customer too.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
July 31, 200322 yr Simple products often come with a manual. But from my work in the process industry, regarding advanced electronics and software, the "manuals" are very often bad copies, and absolutely NOT up to date. Ask them for more and often they feel it like an insult!Regarding the industry "support" I can only give them a cold laugh. I`d daresay the PMDG "manuals" are much better than I`ve seen in my work so far. Just my experience. Opinions differ of course ;)
July 31, 200322 yr Tord,Making manuals for a product before it is finished is fine for some products, and in theory. But remember, there are products where you just can`t make a manual first. If I got the manual for the Apollo Saturn 5 before they started making it, you BET I wouldn`t ride it!!
July 31, 200322 yr Oh yes there is! I wouldn`t make the manual for a complicated electronic circuit before it was built and tested for example...and the 737 has a lot of logic built-in. Or is it me that are plain dumb, or is it the world suddenly changed to something else during last night?
July 31, 200322 yr Even if I agree with what should have happened, there simply is no use in pounding it into the ground here. Lessons learned over the last month are many I am sure, so let's give priorities their place...[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. July 31, 200322 yr Tord,I may have been speaking past you. The real NG manual has of course been on the market for a long time, so maybe I should shut up and just order it :-lol And I agree making parts of the manual in the product development stage is important. Another thing, often the customer demand can push an unfinished/untested manual out in the market, it may not be the company, and you can`t blame them for anything in that situation.
August 1, 200322 yr I have been at work all day and find this topic more than answered. Thanks guysLuc
