Problem with SoundBlaster and frames in low end PC...

Featured Replies

(Edited to reflect issue in the subject line)Hi all, I have just purchased and insatlled the 737NG and everything appeared to be alright until I switched to the outside view and all hell broke loose_ I thought I had blown my speakers as the most awful static-hissing sound errupted and when i tried switching views the sound remains- i am sure the 737 engines do not sound like this!! also how do i bring up the FMC? when I click on the "I" on the panel selection letters I get nothing- what am I doing wrong? finally I am getting 6-8 fps nothing more, I have no clouds, sliders are on default my system specs are Athlon 1.2, 768 mb pc133 ram, ATI radeon 64 mb crd, Win XP.. I rally need some help with these issues as I can clearly see that this is the next great add on for FS and I woiuld hate to have this experience spolied by the above noted problems. great job PMDG crew!!P.S. one more question- how do i get my permanent user licence??

To display the FMC try hitting 'F'.As far as registering the program is concerned, there is info on the main support page regarding this, at http://www.precisionmanuals.com/PAGES/SUPPORT.HTM

Gooper- You must sign each post with your real name, sure I know you from PIC 767 forum ;), I suggest you add you name to your profile and forget it! I assume you you have a SoundBlaster card and are running the 737 in COF? If this is the case please refer to www.soundblaster.com and download the newest drives for you card, seeing that I had the SAME issue this should also work for you. The *I* does not do anything YET but will later on, that's for the IRS aft overhead panel. For your last question, start FS and choose the 737, load it into the sim and from the PMDG menu PMDG/REGISTRATION DETAILS/EXTENDED REGISTRATION and you will see a code to mail to PMDG, read the INSRTUCTION in the BOX ;) [h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Hey randy sorry about not signing my real name (stilll getting used to the forum rules) anyways i downloaded the latest drivers and the sound is fien now, now the only problem remains these framerates- I see your specs are almost identical tomine except your cpu which is about double mine (1.2 athlon) i hope this differnec alone does not count for the difference in framerates u and I are getting - I think you said u are getting in the mid to hight teens which on my system is pretty smooth and would make this wholee xperience much more enjoyable as well as take full advantage of the flight model for this bird which i have heard so much about. do you mond emailing or posting what sort of settings u are using?? thanks, John CYOW

Well mine is set pretty low seeing that I have been running a GF2 MX card, my GF3 was great, anyways here are my details...1024x768 32Bit, T&L, Triple FILTERING, mip map 4, lights at 7, Global MEDIUM, Terrain 50, Terrain TEXTURE MEDIUM, No water effects, and WEATHER I have set to the lowest possible. I find that a 32 bit card has the most issues with WEATHER effects and SHADOWS. I also tend to fly at night because it seems more real to me than day ;) so extended textures/distance mean nothing and in real life seeing more than 60 miles is not simulating real world view distance.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J.
