doh :D guess you are rightDavid

I am having some problems with the altitudes written in the legs pages on the FMC...After writting my cruise alt one time, it just writes 240/_ _ _ _And the arrival times in the perf pg is wrong, also the distance...And in the air I can't connect to Vnav...Yester day when planning a flight, I had the same thing with the alt's, then I edited my SID a little, and kazzam it wrote it correctly, now I tried it today, but even though I did the same stuff with the same saved flight plan, it refused to write altitudes, meaning that Vnav wouldn't be possible if I left the ground???This is new, I have NEVER had one single problem with the FMC before this! The only problem, was with the nose dive, but you could prevent it, by not editing the DES page and legs pages for speeds...Also the FMC writes route discontinuety all the time, making jetway dials impossible, also this form of waypoint writting: BUB220/15 is not possible in the route page, only in the legs pages???Also a thing I have not seen before...So frame rates are better, but man the FMC is now useless! Please reply...Boaz...

Hi Boaz (Your real name?)>Yester day when planning a flight, I had the same thing with>the alt's, then I edited my SID a little, and kazzam it wrote>it correctly, now I tried it today, but even though I did the>same stuff with the same saved flight plan, it refused to>write altitudes, meaning that Vnav wouldn't be possible if I>left the ground???This is a known issue that PMDG is looking into. To work around it until it is patched, be sure not to save any alt constraints with your flight plan. There was something wrong with the crunching of loaded flight plans. If you try to enter it manually I bet your flight plan would pass. :-)>Also the FMC writes route discontinuety all the time, making>jetway dials impossible, I've never seen the FMC inserting DISCOs when entering airways. Can you post some shots of that. That would be interesting to look into!>also this form of waypoint writting:>BUB220/15 is not possible in the route page, only in the legs>pages???That is correct. You can't enter home made waypoints in the RTE page, not even in the real a/c. Only waypoints in the data base are valid for the RTE page. >Please reply...Well, I'm not PMDG but I hope you got some help anyway!Cheers,

Thanks for your reply!I don't think you fully understood the gravity of the FMC problem!I wrote that I had the alt error on a flight, where I manually wrote the entire flight and then took off and so on...I had NO Vnav under the entire duration of the flight, also it wasn't possible to enter ANYTHING, because the FMC kept writting Vnav disc and alt something...And the recent flight I made...I wrote again an entire flight, the same 240/_ _ _ _ was in the legs pages...I said oh #### not again...Then I deleted my first waypoint, and inserted a new one, and wammo all the info was back in the progress page, and alt's in the legs pages, but then my PC crashed and I wanted to fly the flight, so I loaded everything, and also loaded the previous saved flight, and then the alt problem could not be dealt with...I was really really furious, and that's the last time I am going to try and fly the plane, until there is a new patch, because This Vnav problem was NOT in the FMC before the patch!I am really sad because it looks, sounds and feels like a REALLY REALLY good product, but these minor things makes it unflyable!Something that is really really sad!Boaz...

Last night I flew online from KORD to KATL and was given vectors to runway 26R and everything was great until I tried to capture the ILS.I was at 5000 ft and I had both radios tuned to the ils freq which is 110.1 if I am not mistaken as I am writing this from work.I had the loc button pushed and the light was on but I flew through the loc it never picked it up.I was vectored backed around and had the loc working and the app pushed and both ap lights on and the plane never would desend out of 5000 and I just flew right over the airport. The sky was very overcast with low vis so I never saw the airport.I don't like to make comparisons with PIC 767 but with this aircraft I can fly the same FP and with a cat lll app put it on the center line without ever seeing the airport. All I am saying is on the 2ed app with the app button on and both autopilot's on the plane never desended from 5000 ft as it would on a cat 3 landing. JeffG

Any idea why GS did not capture ?At 5000 were you not above the glide slope ?You can intercept the glide slope from above with the NG, but you have to cross it. Was this the case ?Sorry to ask, I don't know the procedures around ATL...anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com

I don't know why it did not capture at 5k,atc had me at 8000 than down to 5000 than gave me the glideslope and localizer info and cleared for the app once capture desend. My cdi started to move and the the loc would not light upand I flew through the loc.I did a go around and than when the cdi started to move I hit the loc and than the app and both ap buttons due to this being a cat 3 landing and eveything worked fine but the plane would not desend. Mats JohanssonPlease reply to my latest post:)And yes my real name is Boaz...It's in the Bible and everything man!! :)Boaz...

Bump...

Well BoazI really didn't/felt I could reply, as I couldn't understand the gravity of the FMC problem. You never said you entered your flight plan manually ;-) But... If you think the plane is not flyable if you can't engage VNAV, well, I'm sorry but I can't help you more. There are plenty of fascinating things about this a/C that can be explored in the mean time, while waiting for PMDG to finnish the VNAV patch. I can tell you that one is looking good!If I got all that VNAV trouble using a totally manually entered flight plan I would check and re-check every input made. Seems like something conflicting in the data. I've never had any problems with VNAV when manually configured. Manually goes for SID and STAR too of course.Regards,
