AP troubles

Featured Replies

I am having some problems here. Every time I turn on the AP, the plane just goes up, and it wont obey the vs. or vnav, and when I set an altitude for it to hold when it reaches it, it wont, it'll just keep on goin up and eventually stalling. I have tryed every thing that I can think of. I have all the updates installed as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would just like to let you know that PMDG Policy stipulates that you sign your posts with your real name, thanks! As to your questions, search for 'Fred Clausen' in the Avsim file library, where you can find my tutorial. Perhaps that will help you out.Good luck!

Thanks for the tutorial, but it didn't help. I followed it word for word, but, like I said earlier, it didn't help. Right when I got to the part of turning on the AP, the plane just went up in an uncontrollable fashion. Let me try to explain what is happening in further detail. What is happening is that right when I turn on the AP the vertical speed of the aircraft goes immediatly up to around 3000-3500 ft/min., even when I turn on the VS on the autopilot to 1800 or whatever. It just won't obey the altitude section of the AP, but all the other parts of the AP work just fine. Another thing that I notice when this occurs is that the airspeed jumps up and down very rapidly, and while I am in spot plane view, the pitch of the airplane is going up and down, and the elevator is also going up and down. Also when I go to the throttle panel to see the elevator trim, it is all the way toward the nose down side, which I found to be weird. Again, any help would be appreciated. Rigo

Have you used the load program to change the load. Apparently there is a problem with this program, reported by someone else in this forum, and it can upset your CoG. Your problem does sound as though the CoG is outside limits, particularly the fact that the A/P has used all the elevator trim.Check out the following link: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=search

I tried it but it didn't work. Another thing that I noticed was that when I turn on the flight director, the pitch line is fine till after I take off, when it jumps up to 15+ degrees and the autopilot stays on that line and never leaves it. The line also doesn't go done past 10 degrees EVER. This is really getting annoying as well. Rigo

RigoActually, what I was suggesting was that using the load manager caused the problem - not that using it would fix the problem. The pitch line moving to 15 degrees or so nose up after T/O is normal. Why don't you take a look at Bob Scotts posting at http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=search, then follow his suggestions regarding the station_load.0 entry in your aircraft.cfg file (assuming this is the problem). Better still, why not post the weights & balances section of your aircraft.cfg file then we can all take a look - maybe someone will spot a problem. Also, do you set your trim before T/O - maybe you are taking off with it in the fully nose down position?

Okay, okay, just noticed your login name. Is there any chance this is a wind up?

No it isn't, my login name is just a knockoff of the "Flyin' Dutchman." Anyway, I tryed putting the station load lines into the Aircraft.cfg and that was what I said didn't work. Anyways, I just reinstalled the original version and it works just fine now, for some odd reason the patch was the problem I guess, but if u still might have some solutions for me with the patch, then that would be great.

Well MY guess is that you are not READING the install text and checking the NEEDED files for your particular install (fs9 or 2002). The other problem I always see is installs that could not replace certain files (pop up message) and then have all these difficulties. There is nothing wrong with the patch. Follow the readme carefully. I would suggest that you uninstall-reinstall routine. 1] Use this remover tool http://www.precisionmanuals.com/downloads/..._737_REMOVE.EXE 2] Install the original base product. 3] Install the FULL SU1-1 here http://www.precisionmanuals.com/downloads/...ation_SU1-1.ZIP 4] Make sure you CHECK that the correct files are being installed for your setup, either FS9 or FS2002!!! Most people just keep pushing *NEXT* without reading. 5] Happy flying.... [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. I did read all of the stuff and I did check the appropriate boxes for fs2002, and it still doesn't work. I did, though, keep on getting a pop-up saying that "PMDGoptions.dll could not be replaced." I don't know if this is what is causeing the problem. Rigo

Did you have FS running, had you rebooted after the installation? That sounds like what happens when you have a locked .dll (already loaded in memory. Only way to clear it is a reboot and not running the program that loads the .dllRay

I did not have fs running when I did it, the install was the only program running. Rigo

That IS you problem. You said you used the REMOVER but yet it cannot overwrite a file?? Manually remove the PMDGOptions.dll from the MODULES folder. Run the remover install the original base followed by SU1-1. If you get ANY messages that cannot copy etc you will have a corrurpt install. Note the file(S) if this happens......[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. I know most people ignore that need to reboot message after installing the base package ... odds are you skipped that step hence locked dll.Just kill it by hand if you can... then do the reinstall. If you can't, post back...with the message you getRay

Thanks a lot guys for the attempted help. I finnaly got it working fine. I really don't know what I did wrong for this to happen, but o'well. Anyway, this is a great plane and I really enjoy flying it. I appreciate all the hard work you guys put into it. Again, thanks for the "attempted" help. Rigo
