September 19, 200322 yr From what I can remember from the DF 737 which was a very good model of the FMC and from my DF video. When approaching the various navs the frequencies would be automaticaly selected, but I never did know if you had to manualy select the appropriate ILS frequemcy. It seemed never to work unless you did.Since you put the landing runway into the program why doesnt it select the ILS frequencies automaticaly. Looking at the "real" one there is, as I said, a choice of Auto or Manual. I guess the latter is to over ride the former, in which case its seems as though it should be automaticaly put in.Kind regardsNigel Thomas-Smith
September 19, 200322 yr Hi Nigel,The NG is not fitted with automatic NAV radio tuning. Remember that the DF models a -400 and I think ( though I could be wrong) the classic series were fitted with auto radio tuning. Apart from that the DF model of the FMC falls way short of the PMDG model of the FMC especially with the new features for SU2 and the planned additions for the -800/-900/-BBJ series.Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
September 19, 200322 yr "with the new features for SU2" Tell me more.Is this going to be for the 600/700 series ?Is there anywhere, apart from having to leave the simulator, mid flight that one can get the current ILS frequencies from the FMC or anything.

September 19, 200322 yr Not to be mistaken for a rant of any kind! mine is a purely informative question:can you give some examples please. are there any new features I may not be aware ofThanx//Mike
September 20, 200322 yr One that comes to mind immediatelyVNAV PATH... try it..REgards, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
September 20, 200322 yr Lol, well how bout this FMC is actually a PART of the aircraft!
Best Wishes,Randy J. September 20, 200322 yr Hi, Randy.Would the PMDG 737NG have two FMC computers... or only one? I seem to recall that those with two have a L/R FMC switch somewhere in the cockpit(?).Thanks.CheersIan.P.S. I don't mean two CDU's by the way ;-)
September 20, 200322 yr Don't have a clue hehe. I don't even know about this for the real word Ngs. The CBTs do not show 2 FMCs but that of course means nothing as it shows only 2 CDUs lol..
Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-8/196432/winglets_lg.jpg
AMD XP 2200 |MUNCHKIN 512 DDR RAM |ECS[/b ] K7S5A MB |GF2 MX 32 MEG and still runs GOOD!|WIN XP PRO |MITSUBISHI DIAMOND PLUS 91 19"
Randy J Smith
September 20, 200322 yr "I don't even know about this for the real word Ngs."It's definitely an option in the real world NG's, Randy. I don't know if it is standard/normal, however. I'd imagine that the dual installation would be pretty expen$ive ;-)Cheers.Ian.
September 20, 200322 yr Answer found! The Dual FMC installations have this switch on the overhead panel.http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/737/FMCLRSwitch.jpgPMDG, therefore, only has one FMC computer ;-)Cheers.Ian.P.S. (Edit) Also, a little green "FMC L"(or R) message appears in the bottom left hand corner of the ND.http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/737/NDIRSOff.jpg
September 21, 200322 yr Guess I should have read the manual !I found the answer to the rnmwy ILS info question after going through the brilliant Advanced Operations Tutorial by Timothy M. Metzinger. There is another tutorial using the FMC I saw somwehere but now canot trace it - or remember where I ever saw it.I wish there was one which used British airports though as he also uses some of the American ATC conventons which are very different fro over here. EG "Cleared for the ILS" - Never heard over here as we split it up into the localiser and then the glideslope and our SID STARS are runway specific. IMHO, much better than the American system. We only have to give the SID and teh controller knows from what runway we are departing and the crossing altitudes enroute. - If the charts are followed !Anyway, thanks again to all for the help.
