October 6, 200322 yr Hi,Noticed that I don't have any sound for the flaps when operating them and then when I looked in the sound directory I noticed that the 737flap.wav file is only 1 KB.Is this a known problem or is it just my installation that got screwed up somehow?TIA,Richard
October 6, 200322 yr No problem, you really cannot hear the flaps motor from the NG cockpit. This is realism and will not be changed ;)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
October 6, 200322 yr Author OK ;-) Almost thought that was the case and like the philosophy beeing as close to 100% realism in all aspects as possible. The reason I got thoughtful was when I found the file 737flaps.wav in the sound directory and also noticed that file was referred to in the sound.cfg file. Why have the file and refer to it when it does nothing...?All the best,Richard
October 6, 200322 yr Author ...and what about the gear, are you able to hear them from the flightdeck in the real one?/Richard
October 7, 200322 yr You can hear it but just how much etc I am not sure although this NG you can hear the lever move too.[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
October 7, 200322 yr Author OK, this is interesting information! And what about that 737flaps.wav file - you don't happen to know the reason why it's there? Not that I have a problem with it, just curious...
October 7, 200322 yr Because it's a leftover file that was once a sound wave? There use to have a flaps sound but was removed. Not sure what purpose it has (IF ANY) but it cannot hurt anything..[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
October 7, 200322 yr "...and what about the gear, are you able to hear them from the flightdeck in the real one?"I'd say that would be a good possibility, Richard ;-) If you couldn't hear it, you could certainly feel it! (the nose gear is right below the mid/rear part of the cockpit...and there is nothing gentle when it comes to using hydraulics to raise landing gear).Of course, I could ask what what sort of sounds you were looking for... e.g. increased wind noises with the gear down, the sound/vibration of the tyres rubbing against the brake pads just after the gear has been retracted, etc...).Looking forward to a pilot's comments on this :-)Cheers.Ian.
