October 8, 200322 yr Hi Folks:I have a problem that I need help with. How does one tell the FMC while programming the text file, which of the NAVAIDS to use, when there are more than one with the same name?I want to program a SID that takes the a/c out on rwy heading then after an altitude or distance turns to a heading and keeps it until intercepting a radial from a VOR.Unfortunately, it likely picks the first NAVAID on that page (there are 5 of them with the same name) and sends the SID 4068 NM away :-)I can choose the proper NAVAID when programming a route in the FMC, because It gives me the option to select, but how is this done programming the text file?Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.Roberto Roberto Stopnicki Toronto, Canada
October 8, 200322 yr Hello RobertoI've asked this one before on the forum and did'nt get a reply. My problem was that I had a VOR and NDB close to the airport but in different positions with the same name, the FMC chose the one I didnt want!I got around the problem by creating a FIX for the NAVAID I wanted. Not ideal but it worked in the absence of any other help.Simon
October 8, 200322 yr Hi Simon, Roberto !I could imagine, that the FMC should (SU2 ?) choose the nearest waypoint - in case of intersections this will solve the problem. In your case, Simon, I don't think, there's another solution - the real world can be strange sometimes ;)
October 8, 200322 yr Author Thanks Simon:I had managed to "fool" the FMC that way myself.I was just wondering if there was an "intelligent" way of doing it :-)We'll just wait for SU2 and manuals on the FMC.RegardsRoberto Roberto Stopnicki Toronto, Canada
