October 11, 200322 yr Hi Robert,I was wondering if you can make the landing lights visible from the cockpit similar to the 777 in FLY II! I know they are different sims and all, but I was wondering if there is some way you guys can come as close to that as possible. Will the brightness and wash-out be fixed in SU2?Thanks a ton,Dinshaw.
October 11, 200322 yr Dinshaw,Not sure what you mean but the landing lights are visible from the cockpit in FS2002 and FS2004. Can you post screenshots of what you're seeing with the 777 in Fly! II and what you're seeing with the 737 in FS? http://www.precision...GX_Dev_Team.jpg PMDG Graphic Designer
October 12, 200322 yr Author Hi Pete,Sorry, I had FLY II! on my older computer. It was just the way that I think FLY modeled the landing lights as compared to MSFS, so much nicer in FLY. If any users have FLYII! on their machines can you post a screenie(s) in this forum with landing lts, taxi, rwy trnoff, separately as visible from the cockpit?Pete, as Idias put it so tongue in cheek, they are very, very bright and like him, I cant turn on the landing lights as it completly obscures the rwy, taxiway, in front of you. Also with just the taxi lights on, even the rwy turnoff lts come on. Therefore, it forms a pattern on the ground which throws light about 45 degress on either side of the nose and a dark portion with hardly any light visible in front of the nose. I shall try and post a screenie soon to show what I mean.Cheers,Dinshaw.
October 12, 200322 yr Author Hi Pete,I am enclosing a few screenies of the landing lights and other external lights.
October 12, 200322 yr Dinshaw,I need to be very carful here. The taxi and turn off lights are linked within FS. There is no way currently to implement them seperatly. Vin has a ton of stuff going on and the taxi turn off lights is a victim of not enough FS available hooks or calls.Being very carful here...The landing lights is a known bother and is being addressed to be more natural. Forces outside our control limit what we can do but we are working on it.There, I think I kinda answered your question without answering your question, so Robert won't have to call the re-educators out on me :D http://www.precision...GX_Dev_Team.jpg PMDG Graphic Designer
October 12, 200322 yr Author Dear Pete,Thanks a ton for the reply. I completely understand you, with the limitations of MSFS and all. Such a pity !With regards to the taxi and runway turnoff lights.....is there a way to inhibit the runway turnoff lights from coming on? That way I guess we could get a better map on the ground with the taxi light. Secondly, glad to hear you are working on the landing lights. I guess there is only so much even you guys can do within the MSFS framework. Do you think once the SDK is released it might help you further?Once again, thanks Pete for the answers. You have more than answered what I was suspecting :)Lol,Dinshaw.
October 12, 200322 yr Commercial Member The landing lights and taxi lights have been totally revamped in SU2. They are not nearly as bright, and as a result don't wash out the runway as much (although washing out the runway is somewhat inevitable because of the way MSFS handles these lights). The landing lights and taxi lights will also be visible in the side 2D panel views. As far as distinguishing between the taxi lights and runway turnoffs? So far no joy with that, due to limitations of microsoft's lighting setup.VinPMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.vinscimone.com/dancnkid.gif Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
