October 22, 200322 yr Before anyone jumps to a conclusion, I think the 737 is a great plane and my problem is more than likely my fault and can be fixed. Here goes:I have both CH Pro Pedals and yoke. When flying in fs9 with FSUIPC registered, turning and all my flight controls feel like im flying a cessna. Everything seems way to sensitive and "not heavy" at all. When using rudder, the plane yaw's very quickly, much unlike a real 737. I know there is probably no way to make it feel like the real thing, but im sure there are settings to make it feel more like a jet than a prop. Any suggestions? What should I be doing in FSUIPC or the sensitivity settings to make it more realistic? Thanks

The difference isn't in how quickly you can change bank angle or pitch angle (that's merely a function of the effectiveness of the ailerons and elevator and the strength of the airframe), the difference that makes it feel "heavy" is how long it takes for that change in bank or pitch angle to result in a change in the flight path vector (heading or vertical speed change). Here I think PMDG's done a good job, given the limits of the sim and the lack of feedback in the PC controls. If you're at 50 feet AGL and coming down at 1000+ FPM, you're gonna hit the ground no matter how fast you rotate and firewall the throttles. If you aren't lined up correctly with the runway, you can't slip the 737 around the way you can the 182, Baron, or Caravan - there's just too much mass and inertia. If you want a more ponderous attitude response, you can decrease your control sensitivities in FSUIPC.Hope this helps
October 22, 200322 yr Did you set:STICK_SENSITIVITY_MODE=0 in the fs9.cfg?That helps to reduce sensitivity overall for every plane. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
October 22, 200322 yr "STICK_SENSITIVITY_MODE=0 in the fs9.cfg?"Under what section?I couldn't find this line anywhere, can you elaborate on what it does?Thanx/Mike
October 22, 200322 yr Hi, I don`t know about the config settings, but I can tell you the CH pedals are way too sensitive, so I ended up selling them and buying Simped instead. One thing that CAN help you with your CH pedals: Go to their home page and download Control Manager. This software gives you a nice control with the CH pedals sensivities and curves.
October 22, 200322 yr By default, the line "STICK_SENSITIVITY_MODE=#" is not there in the fs9.cfg, you have to type it under the (CONTROLS) section.BTW, you can choose a number from 0 to 5 for the sensitivity, where 0 is the minimum sensitivity and 5 the maximum (default on FS9, I think).Carlos.
October 22, 200322 yr It's important to remember to set the NULL ZONES and SENSITIVITY SETTINGS properly in FS. Null Zones help the airplane fly better with out the need to fight the controls themselves. FSUIPC will help in this case, be sure to calibrate your joysticks in Windows, set your Null Zones and Sensitivity settings that compensate the feel of a heavy bird then use FSUIPC to control those erratic behaviors caused by your joysticks. FSUIPC has a NULL setting as well. It's alot of work to get your joysticks set right, but once they are, your sim will fly like a dream...Maybe an experienced 737 pilot could help us out by taking a snap shot of their Null Zone and Sensitivity settings in FS and post them; this would be a good starting point? Any takers?Regards,Chad C. DeMuth-OlsenPilothttp://home.bresnan.net/~atc01/Images/chad...1_signature.jpg
October 23, 200322 yr Lets not get too carried away here, do you guys realise you need two arms to do a control check on a 737? Its a real effort to smoothly pull and push on the control column with one hand. You are never going to get this kind of feeling out of a plastic joystick or control yoke.

October 25, 200322 yr We are all entitled to our opinions...Isn't it great! :)Regards,Chad C. DeMuth-OlsenPilothttp://home.bresnan.net/~atc01/Images/chad...1_signature.jpg
