October 29, 200322 yr I've always wondered why designers don't simply model a third engine (without significant thrust output of course) that could be used as a 'APU' with a recharging generator that really works in FS2004. In addition, this engine/APU would consume kerosene just like it's real life counterpart and would require flight planning accordingly.
October 29, 200322 yr Hi NamelessActually I have asked myself that too. And I also dared to ask the PMDG developers as well, as it is, as you say a small gas turbine. But you get too many hick-ups and strangenesses that it's not doable...Good thought though.BTW. Please read the forum rules anchored at the top. ;-)Regards, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
October 29, 200322 yr For all of FS's limitations PMDG have done an incredible job on this APU, and it burns fuel when used at the right amount. I'd say that's a fine work around would'nt you?[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
October 30, 200322 yr I didn't realize the PMDG aircraft APU did indeed burn fuel, I'm very impressed. I know that there are limitations inherent in FS2004, yes. Part of the attraction of add-ons like PMDG are the way developers find ways around these limitations, so I always like to encourage them :) For instance, if you'd said that an aircraft could do a real spin in FS2004, who would have believed that? We knew the limitations. Then along comes Rob Young and the barrier is down. Now I hear tell of an addon update coming out with Control Wheel Steering autopilot functions. Never say never :)
October 30, 200322 yr Hello Never say never>Now I hear tell of an addon update coming out with Control Wheel >Steering autopilot functionsWell now, where did you ever hear such ridiculous things...lol ;-)Gotta love SU2, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
October 30, 200322 yr I am just curious to know if without FSUIPC, the PMDG APU can be used alone not draining battery over that period of 30 mins specified by Boeing ?Dont answer that if it is part of SU2 secrets... ;-) Jean-Claude MeunierCYQB
