November 2, 200322 yr Anthony,I'm not 'fishing' for a reaction, I'm sorry if I came off as a little (a lot) arrogant. :) Reading my message back I was out of line, I apologize.I think this issue does need to be seriously addressed by PMDG. Your response is that basically PMDG is aware of this flaw in design but that it won't be addressed until another payware version of the product is marketed? The PMDG 737-700 is a 'mature' release now, over six months old. Do both youself and PMDG feel that it is acceptable at this time for the aircraft to be tracking up to 20 miles off an airway course centerline with normal flightpan waypoints programmed into the FMC? Shouldn't PMDG designers have identified and corrected such a basic flaw right away or at least been able to patch it by now? It is unreasonable that I should expect a simulation of FMC lateral navigation with the PMDG 737 to be somewhere at least is the same league of precision as other 'peer' Flightsim add-ons are? Yes, as you mention in your reply, one can 'baby' the FMS by inserting closer waypoints into a flightplan to eliminate the erroneous offset lateral track problem. I don't feel this is how the problem should be dealt with in the near term though. I believe that I and other PMDG customers should have a reasonable expectation that your product should be able to accomplish a basic task of navigation in line with the precision and realism we bought the product for. :)Furthermore, I don't believe it is right to make your customers have to wait and purchase another version of your software in other to see a resolution to this issue. That's just not good business. :)It would be very unreasonable to assume that a complex piece of software such as the 737 could be designed and marketed without one single error; this is an unrealistic expectation due to the complexities and intricasies of computer coding. I fully understand this. However, I believe the lateral offset tracking error problem should have been detected and repaired by at least the first service update. If FMC navigation for Flightsim were in a pioneer, groundbreaking technology stage it would be furthermore understandable if the 737 FMC manifested some unforseen shortcomings such as significant lateral track error problems. But again, other contemporary add-ons for Flight Simulator have indeed proven the validity of reliably simulating precision lateral and vertical navigation in desktop flightsimming. I therefore believe that PMDG should, in a responsive and competative way, address this issue with the SU2 release. Addressing such a serious flaw only by releasing another commercial product in the future is just not right.Thank you.
November 2, 200322 yr Hi Mats,Please see my above post where I elaborated further and apologized to Anthony for being crass. :)I will tell you that the offset errors I get right now occur in normal jet airway flightplans, standard with real-world CONUS FAA high altitude VORTAC reception constraits between jet airway waypoints. PMDG are ultimately the ones who will decide how and when (or if) to address this problem, you are right. I am just a customer.
November 2, 200322 yr James,I've read it! And I do tend to agree with you to some extentPlease accept my apologies for being rude to you, as I can seemy post was a bit harsh. And by the way. I'm only a customer too! Just a little bit more involved in the developing process. :-)No hard ones, ;-) Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
November 3, 200322 yr >Oops. To be frank, nope... This perticular issue is not yet>fixed in SU2.>Will be in 800 900...Whoops, my mistake. I thought this was corrected :-hang
November 3, 200322 yr Certainly James! ;-)Best regards, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
