problem with autopilot....

hi,When ever I take off and engage the autopilot on climb out in the 737 the nose always pitches up to like 20-30 degrees and then slowly lowers back to normal. Has this been fixed in one of the earlier SUs or is it going to be fixed in SU2? It's been happening even after installing SU1-1Andrew

It has been tweaked a bit BUT you must understand what is going on when you are enaging the AP in TOGA. The amount of thrust produced will and does pitch the nose up and at slow & lighter weights it even more pronounced. I suggest that you FIRST speed up (250) and use V/S to start your climb then engage LVL CH or VNAV. I might add that the real aircraft also pitches the exact same way! Hi,Just another point of view. I don't speed up to 250 first if I want to engage the autopilot early, and I don't have it abruptly pitch up and then back down to commanded attitude. Here is the trick. Prior to engaging the autopilot, ensure that the speed is stabalized at the commanded climbout speed, the flight director command bars are centered and the aircraft is properly trimmed to hold this speed and attitude "hands off".All of these things will usually just about accomplish themselves if you set the trim correctly before takeoff and rotate at about 3 degrees per second. Once all of these conditions are met, press the button to engage the autopilot. You now shouldn't have any abrupt pitch movements. Hope this helps.-Shaun
