While were waiting for SU2, ..PC Anywhere for FS2004?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,A friend of mine got FS2004 last night, and he knows JACK about flying..hehe. I was trying to talk him over things on the phone. Is there any way that y'all know of a way to sort of PC Anywhere FS2004? The purpose would be for both of us to be able to control the A/C over the internet, I fly and show by example, then I can watch him try the same maneuver? Sort of like the first time you go up in a real plane and the instructor is there to show and correct. Is there a way to do that with FS, besides the cheesy Instructor client? Maybe it could be done by only transmitting aircraft attitude and flight parameters and then letting my computer translate the movements to save on Data transmission. Seems like some talented programmer could pull that off relatively easily. But what do I know. Any ideas?Just something to distract us while waiting for SU2Shane Lewis

Hi Shane,Off the top of my head, you can try using Remote Desktop (which is available in XP Pro) or have him request your "Remote Assistance" in XP Home. I don't believe you'll be able to see the image his computer is rendering, but I do, for some reason, remember the instruments showing up... albeit not very fast.Your other option would be to record flights and send it to him, then both play the video back on each of your computers at the same time... then you could refer to certain moments in the flight.Good luck!

No, Remote Desktop won't work - he'll need to be able to see what he's doing, and have his friend see it as well.Hence, the first idea of PC Anywhere is correct. However, since that software costs $$$, you can try "WinVNC", which uses similar technology, but is free. =)Download the installer from here: http://www.realvnc.com/dist/vnc-3.3.7-x86_win32.zipUnless you're both on broadband (i.e. cable modem, DSL, or better) and have decently powered rigs, there's no way it will be usable. Even then, I bet performance won't be the best... you might be better just to go to your bud's place. =)Good luck!- Bill
