I Have 2 Planes That Won't Fly - Why ?
The autopilot doesn't happen to somehow come on during takeoff, does it? I mean simply on, it doesn't have to be set to any specific altitude. I know that can cause your a/c to not respond to elevator inputs.

I Have 2 Planes That Won't Fly - Why ?
Hey Joe,Kind of a simplistic suggestion, but have you tried adjusting the trim and/or payload of those aircraft? Are you using the Simshed PC-21? If so, I've tried that and it works correctly for me. Have you tried using the keyboard to command up-elevator (turn off num-lock, then hold down the number 2), to eliminate the possibility of it being a problem with your joystick?

C'Sim C130 VC texture problem (but only panel=v)
Hello there,So your other iterations of the AC that use a different panel work? I guess what I could suggest would be to, if this is a 3rd party repaint, to completely reinstall the repaint so you can put in known good versions of the interior textures (which you can get from Flight Simulator 9Captain_Sim130never_modify).The reason why certain areas are showing up textured and not others is because of the way CS does their gauging. The texture for the instrument panel is included within the gauge itself.

What/where is the "Windows System Directory" file??
Just FYI, Windows 2k uses x:WINNT where as 95/98/NT and possibly Vista all use x:Windows for the system files.I too would like to see why there's a file needed to go into the windows directory.Hope that helps!

MAC OS
I don't think any of the versions of MS's flight simulators work on OSX so you'd have to use bootcamp to boot into Windows, which defeats the purpose of switching.Xplane is probably a different story, however.

Hi everybody!!!Need Help!
Ultra DMA Mode 2 is fine. As long as it isn't PIO, you're fine. If you want to learn more about this, go [a href=http://neodon.blogspot.com/2006/07/little-known-tweak-to-boost-hard-drive.html]here[/a]. You may be able to make it slightly faster by following that guide. For a malware/spyware scan, I mean using a program like [a href=http://www.spybot.com/en/download/index.html]Spybot Search and Destroy[/a]. That program generally does a pretty good job of cleaning stuff off. You can also run [a href=http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10399602.html?tag=lst-0-1]AdAware[/a], [a href=http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=435bfce7-da2b-4a6a-afa4-f7f14e605a0d&displaylang=en]Windows Defender[/a], [a href=http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10379544.html]Hijackthis[/a] (using [a href=http://www.hijackthis.de]this[/a] site to analyze your log). But the other programs are optional. However, no one program does everything, so multiple scans are "best".You may also want to check out [a href=http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html]this[/a] site. It's a very comprehensive guide on how to tweak your system in general. Just chose the "regular edition" (the one with the big download button).Lastly, if you're using an nVidia based card, check [a href=http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_1.html]this nVidia Forceware tweaking guide[/a].

Hi everybody!!!Need Help!
How's your computer running in general? If it's slow in general for no reason, I'd suggest doing the usual malware/spyware/virus scans, but I'd also recommend checking what mode your harddrive is in. To do this:- Go to system - properties - hardware - device manager - IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers - 2x click on primary ide channel- click advanced settings tab- look at what "current transfer" isIf current transfer is in PIO, there's your problem. If you have a SATA hard drive, this doesn't apply. I work in the OIT department of my university and we've run into this so often when computers slow down suddenly for no reason and they are clean in every other regard. Hope that helps,

Which would you use?
Chappy,What's the error message that windows gives you when it blue screen's? I'm not entirely sure which version of windows you have (2000/XP), but I'd recommend going to the properties of My Computer, click Advanced, then Settings under Startup and Recovery and untick the box that says automatically restart. That'll buy you more time to see the blue screen.If/when you do see the error message again, please make note of any error code it generates (which is something like 0x00000F) and also if it lists any drivers (files that are .dll or .sys). If you can give me/us that information, I could try to help you further.

New NVidia drivers 93.71 Forceware Heads up!
In case there are still any questions in your mind, I founds this website (http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/video/fw90.html). It'll show you exactly what I mean when I say the new control panel, if you're curious.

Anyone seen similar troubles?
Hi Tony,I'm watching the video and about 3/4ths of the way through I said to myself "I don't see what the problem is?" until you touched down, then I literally laughed out loud when it did that.As for your problem, you don't happen to be using FSUIPC do you? I seem to recall a setting in there that changed what the weather was when you were "physically" on the ground, which could be affecting you.Does this happen at every airport that you use (under those conditions, I'd imagine)? If it does, as a shot in the dark, you could try a program like FSMetar, which will control the weather from outside the sim and if you get the same thing, then it may eliminate some possibilities.

New NVidia drivers 93.71 Forceware Heads up!
Hi Chapster,I haven't installed these specific drivers yet but I have used the 90 series drivers and haven't had any problems at all. I believe starting with the 90 series, nvidia introduced the "nvidia control panel" which basically puts everything from the display properties specific to your card into its own control panel group.I don't believe there's much development going on for either of the cards you've listed in the newer drivers. I don't even think there's much going on for my 6800GT, so YMMV, but I don't believe either of us will see much of a performance increase with the new drivers, but I do hope I'm wrong :)

BEST freeware Virtual Cockpit?
You should really check out the P-51D available here (http://www.gjsmith.net/Textures/P-51D.htm)It's absolutely stunning. Don't be deceived by the small download size. It includes a very nice virtual cockpit with model-based gauges (ie. very fast refresh), a very convincing sound set, and a very nice "feel" all around.

737-600/700 VC upgrade with the 800/900
Is the file your talking about separate from the 800/900 installer or is it the installer itself? Thanks for your help!EDIT - In my haste, I overlooked the obvious place to find this file - the PMDG downloads. I've found what I was looking for and it appears to have worked! Thanks again!

737-600/700 VC upgrade with the 800/900
Hey Everyone,I haven't had the 737 series installed in a long time and I finally got around to redownloading it and installing it again. I can't remember now - does the 800/900 upgrade also upgrade the 600/700 VC so that 1) the lower display works, 2) rain appears on the windshield and 3) misc gauges that were added in the 800/900 appear in the 600/700 VC?I tried to search but nothing really came up and I find the search funtion on the Avsim forums less than stellar, so I appologize (and premptively make excuses :D) if this is easily covered somewhere. Thanks!

Best 'big' virtual cockpit?
On the passenger version, once you're to the point where you push the start up button, I can just go down the line and click all four in succession to get the engines to all start up at once.

Best 'big' virtual cockpit?
What can't you do in the VC of the LDS767? Just about everything is clickable albeit not in 3D.

Active Camera Re-activations requests.
Aftab,I requested a new key late at night Eastern time and by the afternoon I had a new key. However, it's worth noting that my first request (as I think about it, maybe 2 requests), I heard nothing.

Amazing Cinematic VOZ Video
Ok, next question then :) I just quickly went in to Sydney at night and I couldn't see that. Is that everywhere or just in certain areas?

Amazing Cinematic VOZ Video
That video is amazing! I just recently started getting back into FS2004 and installed VOZ over the weekend but haven't had a chance to use it much. Now I can't wait!Quick question - that scene at 2:30 into it, where it shows the roads at night and the moving traffic - is that part of the package or is that something more that you have?

RSS Feed for AVSIM Front Page News
I've been wanting an RSS feed from AVSIM for a long time! I added this to my personalized google page (www.google.com/ig) but all the links in the feed link back to that page (http://www.google.com/ig), but since I know nil about RSS or XML, I can't even wager a guess.

Upgrading new MB/CPU without reinstall??
For what it's worth, my old motherboard had an nVidia chipset and the new one has a ULI chipset and it booted just fine, without a repair install. But definately - your milage may vary. I agree completely that in the long run, a clean reinstall is best.

Upgrading new MB/CPU without reinstall??
I recently did this temporarily over Christmas. I got a new motherboard, processor and ram and just wanted to try everything out without spending most of the night reinstalling everything. Upon first boot it started detecting seemingly bizzare devices (basically the guts of the new motherboard). After a few minutes and a few reboots all was well. I fired up FS2004 (with a lot of payware) and everything I tried worked fine.In the end though, I formatted and reinstalled everything just to get everything clean and "fresh", but I certainly didn't have any problems doing a dirty install. In fact, while I was ironing the bugs out of my new installation on my new hard drive, I kept my old installation on my old hard drive, and would just change the boot order in my bios depending on what I wanted to do at that moment.

Do anyones graphics look like this??
Look at your the picture you posted and the 504 mb ram, I'd imagine that you have an integrated grapics card with very little VRAM (512-504=8mb). So FS2004 has to compress (or use the hard drive) to cache all of the textures. Provided this is all correct, your problem lies in your video card. You can try getting into your bios on start up (usually by hitting DEL during start up) and get into your advanced settings (which is just the generic title, because I haven't dealt with this personally anywhere but on my laptop and even then it's been too long to remember) and change your allocated ram to something like 32 - 64 mb. This, however, will have a drawback because you'll have 32 to 64 mb less RAM for your computer to use with everything else, so the *best* solution would be a separate video card.Hopefully that helps!
