January 23, 200620 yr turn on anti aliasing and anistropic filtering in your display menu in the control panel and uncheck it in the game
January 23, 200620 yr Did you check your settings? Turn up the sliders?? What are your PC specs? If your PC can't handle detailed terrain, it sure can't handle AA and AFRegards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
January 23, 200620 yr Set anisotropic filtering to 4x in the display driver applet and the "soupiness" will disappear. Bert
January 23, 200620 yr I would check your MIP mapping too...I have mine set to 4, others preferences may vary ;)
January 23, 200620 yr Thanks for the responces. I have my mip mapping to 5,how do i turn on anti aliasing and anistropic filtering? Also how do I change anistropic filtering to 4X. My settings are the highest that can go. Check the pic my computer specs are there. ThanksAlexhttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/139680.jpg

January 23, 200620 yr It looks like your Terrain Detail slider isn't up at all. January 23, 200620 yr What video card do you have (if not integrated)To tweak vid settings either use a utility or right click on "my computer" and then "settings" then the "advanced" tabI'd also suggest more memory (504???)Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
January 23, 200620 yr Your Mip-Mapping shouldn't be higher than 4. MS screwed up by giving that option to go higher. 4 is what everyone uses.Put your Terrain Mesh Complexity to 75 or higher. Terrain Texture Size to High. Terrain Detail - Land Only. Check the boxes for Extended Terrain Detail and Dawn/Dusk Blending. Special effects - Medium or High. Under the Scenery Objects section for autogen, just experiment with what works best for your system. Under the Hardware section, select Render to Texture if using any DXT textures. Check Transform and Lighting. Uncheck Anti-Aliasing. Set your Mip Map to 4 and Rendered lights to 8. Put the slider at the bottom for Global Textures to High or Massive. To set your AA and AF, do that from Windows itself. Right-click on the desktop and select Properties. Then goto the Settings tab and Advanced to set your video card. In there will be a place for AA and AF. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
January 23, 200620 yr Look at your the picture you posted and the 504 mb ram, I'd imagine that you have an integrated grapics card with very little VRAM (512-504=8mb). So FS2004 has to compress (or use the hard drive) to cache all of the textures. Provided this is all correct, your problem lies in your video card. You can try getting into your bios on start up (usually by hitting DEL during start up) and get into your advanced settings (which is just the generic title, because I haven't dealt with this personally anywhere but on my laptop and even then it's been too long to remember) and change your allocated ram to something like 32 - 64 mb. This, however, will have a drawback because you'll have 32 to 64 mb less RAM for your computer to use with everything else, so the *best* solution would be a separate video card.Hopefully that helps!
