737NG Spoilers

Featured Replies

I am unable to effectively slow the 737 in flight using the flight detent position of the spoilers. I really like the airframe howling sound while deploying spoilers in flight, but spoilers do not seem to really slow the aircraft effectively. If this more accurately reflects the modeling of a real 737's spoilers, I can live with that; but if not, I wonder if there is a way to increase spoiler drag in the .cfg file ?Thanks !John M.

I asked the same question a while back and the answer was, yes, 737s are difficult to slow down and the spoilers act the way they should in the sim. I personally feel as though they don't do anything. I've watched the decrease in speed dozens of times without A/T turned on and still haven't seen a difference between down or flight detent. I would like to know how pilots slow this bird down, do they always just begin a long and slow descent? I can't imagine that always being the case.Chris

I have fuispc registered and have set spoilers to extend by detents of 12 I think, and manage to slow the plane down on every descent very smoothly.I have set 2 of my joystik buttons (sidewinder) for the extention and retration of spoilers respectively. Very usefull indeed! So no problem here...Davidhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/64164.jpg

Hey thanks, I also have the registered FSUIPC so I'll give that a try.John M.

I agree, the spoilers seem to do little to nothing in the flight detent. I can't see how this is realistic... why even have the spoilers if they have such a limited ability to reduce lift?Patrick
