Please fix B1900D Prop bmp

Featured Replies

Is it just me or does the prop blur on the B1900D look too constant, regardless of the current prop pitch setting? Could someone please fix the prop.bmp file so there is less blur affect (more blade visable) when the prop-pitch is retracted? I have attempted to download various other prop.bmp files from avsim but non of them represent the 4-blade prop very well. I have really been enjoying this aircraft as well as the 737ng and PMDG has provided great support. Now I realize this is a PMDG "express" aircraft without all the bells-and-whistles of their high-end product line but IMHO, even the default FS9 prop aircraft represent this feathering affect better. Thanks in advance for considering this issue.v/r,Al

I'm not aware of different stages of the bitmap for different prop settings. It has to be mapped in the model I believe.

I don't believe this is true in this case. It all depends on the prop.bmp file. Try taking the King-Air 350 prop.bmp file and use it to temporarily replace the same B1900D file. Because the King-air is a 3-blade bmp, it makes look like a sword-fighter on a 4-blade model. I had a prop.bmp file from a C119 (I believe) that I had downloaded from Avsim and it looked somewhat better (i.e. you could see differences based on prop pitch) but it still didn't look quite right. I hope PMDG can remedy this...Al

The effect can be controlled by a combination of pieces, both in the bitmap and in the model. Some designers assign the transparency level to the part within the model--I do this in FSDS as an example. Moreover, I can assign transparency poly by poly if needed, and most of my props are actually a "pie" sliced with 30 polys. I've done this on my rather simple Microlight as well as my remake of Chuck Dome's Mirage. Other designers set up the transparency mask in the bitmap itself. There is also an aircraft.cfg option related to prop animation, which can speed it up or slow it down without influencing the rest of the flight model.-JohnFSDS 2 Designer
