March 6, 200422 yr Hi All,I sent the following message to PMDG support on Wednesday (now Sat) for any Ideas about my poor framerates but haven`t had any response.Looking at the topics here it doesn`t seem as though framerates are a problem. So anyone here got any ideas? (Other than you shouldn`t use it on a Laptop ;o)Hi Pmdg, I`ve just installed the latest TNG737 having uninstalled my previous version with the removal tool. I have a HyperThreading p4 3.06 laptop with a 128 mb Radeon 9600XT graphics card and 512 mb Ram. I created a flight from EGKK to LEAL (Gratwick to Alicante) with real time weather which happened to be Cavok (4/8 Cumulus) and off I went. Shift+Z showed that the frame rate was between 4-6 fps which is very slow for fs on my laptop. I flew on for some time checking out all the good stuff in the 737 (700). I then swapped aircraft mid-flight to an Eaglesoft Beechjet400 that also has the Reality jetline4 instruments and thier new Wx500 Weather radar installed and the frame rate shot back up to 20 fps (I have fs limited to 20fps to save wasting cycles) Does this sound right to you, any ideas ?
March 6, 200422 yr Hmm... I experienced the same problems with some other add-on aircraft like the PSS-A340. I'm using a Notebook as well (Dell Inspiron 8500, P4 2.2, GF4-Ti4200) and the frame rate in the cokpit view was ~ 10-15 FPS while I got stable 25FPS in any spot view. There are two things you may try:1.) Open FS9.cfg and add PanelAsTexture=0 in the graphics section2.) Look for a way to disable AGP Sideband addressing and AGP Fast Writes on your graphics card (I used Riva Tuner for my Geforce 4, but I don't know how to do this on ATI cards...)That solved the problem for me (stable 25fps in any view now), just give it a try.Holger.
March 6, 200422 yr Do you have a mobile pentium 4 processor? If so, did you run your laptop on battery? If so, your pentium goes down to 1,6GHz. Try to connect the elecric cable!Henni
March 6, 200422 yr You may want to turn hyperthreding OFF. The P4 systems i'v built with hyperthreading dont seem to run fs9 well with it turned ON. Seti type apps. or streaming type apps. seem to take advantage of HT much better than programs like FS that use more random instructions. At least give it a try.Regards
March 6, 200422 yr I think that is normal I am afraid. I get 1/3rd of the performance flying with the 737NG as with most default FS 2004 aircraft. Flying in big cities is a real no go currently :(
March 7, 200422 yr Thanks for the replies Guys, sorry for the delay in responding but the forum doesn`t seem to be working so well from this side of the Pond (UK) at the moment. I don`t really want to make any special changes to fs.cfg or my hardware setup just for one aircraft as it`s fine for everything else.I do have a Mobile p4 but the mains was plugged in so the cpu was at 3.06.If I turn off hyperthreading the machine wont start and requires a re-install of xp. so I don`t want to go in that direction.I think Ogvist is probably on the mark and I`ll have to use the TNG as more of a Technical than Flying experience.CheersGraham
