I beleive the ring or circle of dots is there on all aircraft when you switch the transponder to TA ,TA/RA.I dont remember not seeing this, I'll look into it though.

Sure enough ,its an option(then again what isn't). The 3 NM range ring is displayed at EFIS ranges of 80 NM or less(on A/C with this option). Randys idea might be a good one then ,as far as making it a menu option.
