March 27, 200422 yr hi,What are those dots on the ND?http://www.airliners.net/open.file/468355/L-Paul
March 27, 200422 yr Paul, I think that is the TCAS ring, but it looks big because the map is zoomed in. -Alex P.
March 27, 200422 yr There are two *TYPES*, the one in the above picture and the regular RINGS (Which Lefteris has made an option to have on or off) those other TCAS DOTS are used on some aircraft like West Jet. LK, You know who should have a shot of these ;)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/betaimg.jpg Randy J Smith

March 28, 200422 yr Its the windows 3.1 screen of death. No its actually one of the DEU test screens for B/W convergence , as Randy said it will also display RGB and some other info for screen adjustments almost like an LCD TV .In this screen "RIB" is right inboard DU.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69030.jpg
March 28, 200422 yr Please do not get hung up on specific distances. Saying "only traffic within this circle [6nm or 8nm] could become a problem" is completely wrong. At 1000kts closure rate (e.g., head-on), a TA which fires at 48s until closest point of approach (CPA) would fire at 13.3nm. For a low closure rate encounter (e.g., overtaking), it could be as low as 0.3nm to get a TA. TCAS is not fundamentally based on distance as so many seem to think. It is fundamentally based on time to CPA.Those range rings have absolutely nothing to do with the logic to determine TAs and RAs. They probably help with situational awareness.Lee Hetherington, PP-ASEL (KBED)
