FS 2002 Pro Questions Regarding Using Slew

Featured Replies

Is it possible to use the slew commands to begin a flight in the air in the proximity of an airport? I would like to practice landings, and it would be easier if I can place the aircraft in the air, at a specific altitude, and x number of miles outside the airport. Can this be done using slew commands? If yes, how do I do this? I am not familiar with the slew aspects of FS2002.Thank you.Stanner

You certainly can use slew to put the plane anywhere you want. Usually after slewing the and returning to normal flight the aircraft will be sitting at the normal cruise speed for it. (I usually get the wobblies for a second or two until the aircraft settles in). When you have got the plane stabilised you can then "Save Flight" and call up the situation anytime you like. And if you mess it up you can "Reset Flight" and you are back where you started.Good luckMark UnderwoodAdelaide, Australia)

If you wish to practice the same landing another way is to position your aircraft at the start of the practice run (either by flying there or by slewing), pause FS and then save the flight. You can then restart the flight any time by selecting it from the 'flights' menu.

An easy way to do this is use the "map" view. You can zoom in & then drag the plane with the mouse back from the runway. Set the desired speed & altitude in the maps boxes & it's ready to go.......... all stabilized.L.Adamson
