It's about 100nm shorter to San Fran from New York than it is from Boston.

I believe that Aloha Airlines flies a 7377NG from BUR to HNL. The distance is 2561 miles.- John

Yes Ive done a similar flight, sorta, from OAK though. Pretty boring scenery wise until you get to Hawaii :)

I've done a couple KSEA to PHNL flights in the 700 with plenty of fuel to spare. Your right though, not much to do or look at for 5 hours.
