May 5, 200422 yr Hi.Is there a list or a tutorial that gives the right Flight Level for a certain distance? (for the Boeing 737-600/700/800/900 NG)G.
May 5, 200422 yr You'd usually take the winds aloft into account, the route distance and the type of airspace you're flying into(E.G RVSM airspace).John http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer
May 5, 200422 yr Hi G (Hint: forum rules state to please put full real name at end of post ;))Not that I know of. However, if you are traveling a short distance such as a trip that takes 1 hour or so, you'd probably be sticking pretty close to the estimated cruise altitude shown on the Perf Init page during FMC setup, remembering the Odds and Evens rule / any other rules for your area. Anything longer would generally be FL330,350,370 if you're heading east, evens fl's if west. Remember, the ceiling for the 737 is fl410 of the top of my head.Odds and even FL info can be found at http://www.vatpac.org/~vat-dean/australia/...ir.htm#Cruising Levels if you don't know about it.Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. May 5, 200422 yr Just a note... If you fly in Europe keep in mind that some southern europe countries (Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Italy - maybe even some more, i'm not sure about France as an example) use a north-south rule and not west-east for Flight Levels (Southbound/Odd - Northbound/Even) Bye, Luca Luca Benelli PMDG & WX Radar? read here
May 6, 200422 yr I believe that the recommended altitude which the real FMC NG calculates can be "optimistic". Whatever altitude you decide to fly at, make sure it is slightly lower than the one the FMC computes.Cheers.Ian.
