May 8, 200422 yr Hi All,Since installing the 800/900 update I have been unable to get the autopilot to stay connected for more that 1 to 5 seconds. the time it stays connected varies. It makes no difference if the FMC is programmed or not, I can't even get it to maintain heading and alt let alone LNAV and VNAV. Autothrottle is working ok. I am not doing anything differently to what I always did with the 600/700. I have followed the normal proceedures manual. The PMDG B1900D's autopilot works fine as does the default FS2004 aircraft(hadn't touched those in a looong time!)I have reset my registered FSUIPC to normal defaults and got FS to create a clean FS config. I have ActiveSky 2004, FDC, FS Nav and UT isntalled though they arn't running when trying to get this to work.I tried reinstalling the 800/900 and 600/700 after using the removal tool and it made no difference. It seems I'm the only one having the problem. Figures!Steven w.
May 8, 200422 yr Well it would help if you gave details up to the point is disconnects. What disconnects and how do you know it disconnects? What is showing on the FMA? Were you in a climb, descent? Did you touch your controls at this time? [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. May 8, 200422 yr I fly to 10 thousand feet, level off and trim so it is flying straight and level, there are no winds or clouds. The flight director and AT are armed The MCP is configures to Alt=10,000, speed=290, heading=359 degrees (my current speed, alt and heading). I select the alt and heading holds on the MCP then select the CMD A button. The CMD A light illuminates then 1-5 seconds later I hear the AP disconnect warning, the AP Disconnect light lights up and the CMD A light is extinguished. If I turn the aircraft 10 degrees off course and press the CMD A the aircraft will begin the turn then the AP disconnect warning tone and light are replayed and the aircraft continues it's banking till crash if I let it.After pressing CMD the PFD displays CMD in green, then promptly changes to FD. The PFD top line reads MCP SPD, HDG SEL and ALT HOLD.The CH yoke is not moved anytime during the procedure and is calibrated. There is no spiking reported in FSUIPC or the joystick calibration app. I even disconnected the yoke at one point to see if it had any effect, it didn't.Thanks.Steven W.
May 8, 200422 yr I will venture to GUESS that since you are level at 10000' the VNAV commanded speed is stuck at 250. Of course VNAV will not be in the range for engagement so this might be your issue. Note: On a climb and one levels off at 10000' the VNAV commanded speed should change to the climb target and not stay at the 250 below 10000'. I have made mention of this fact after another user brought it to our attention. So for now if you need to level off at 10000' either goa: 10100 speed up to climb target speed then engage VNAV orb: Set speed on the MCP to 250 @10000' and VNAV should engage ok.[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. May 8, 200422 yr Thanks Randy but I thought VNAV only came into it if using the FMC. Holding a heading would be a nice start before worring about the FMC!Hold the press, just fixed it.I just deleted my FS9.cfg then undid the 737 installs and reinstalled everything again. Now it works! The problem is that after the 800/900 update I can no longer set my yokes mixture axis to control the elevator trim. If I disable that then the AP works, enable it then the AP dies. I can cause it to work and fail at will so it is definately my problem.Steven W.
May 8, 200422 yr StevenThis later problem is probably due to interference from your yoke elevator trim axis (or you moving it deliberatetly), as the A/P will disconnect if any manual trim is applied as in the real bird!Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
May 8, 200422 yr Yup, in the real aircraft a certain amount of pressure on the yoke will disconnect the AP though I don't what would happen if the pilot moved the trim wheel while the autopilot was on. For me I didn't touch anything except the mouse after pressing the CMD A button.I have always had my elevator trim axis set on the yoke before and now I can't so it certainly is different to before. In the 600/700 worked, I upgraded, then it didn't work. That is what threw me! I mapped a couple of buttons to the trim so it is easy enough to work around though I prefer using an analogue because it is quicker to adjust.Steven W.
