MCDU flaps speed restrictions

Featured Replies

Mmmmm... something seems to be odd with the 737-800:Before takeoff (ZFW 53.8 and Fuel 9.4) extracting flaps I obtain the following MCDU CLB view speed restrictions ():Flaps Rest 1 245 2 245 5 245 10 205 15 195 25 185 30 170 40 157Is correct to have the same speed restriction with the first three values (1, 2, 5 degrees)? Aren't they too high, expecially with 5 degrees flaps extraction? Before installing the 737-800/900 package the values for 600/700 were much less.Andreahttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg

Hi Andrea,I think these are the correct values. They are supposed to be the maximum manouvering speeds for the flap setting. During climb you would like to accelerate so for overspeed protection you have max man speeds in climb as opposed to the approach flaps speed bugs which are the min man speeds for each flap setting because you would like decelerate for landing. So the approach flap speed settings are for stall protection.Am I understanding this correctly?Hope it helps,

Please do not judge on how it was before. Like Mats stated these are not MAX flaps limit speeds but even if they WERE max flaps limit speed for flaps 5 is 250 knots. Plus one does not select VNAV prior to flaps retraction.................... [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
