fmc OAT entries

Featured Replies

Hi, Im having a little difficulty here with the 800-900 upgrade since I have intalled it.In the section of the FMC where you enter OAT I cannot seem to enter any number below 20'c. If the temperature outside is 08 then how do I enter it please. The fmc says invalid entry yet its displayed like so __//15'c.RegardsDavid Bowen

You can enter /08 or if needed /-XX as valid formats. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/betaimg.jpgAMD 64 3200+ | ASUS KV8 DELUXE | GFORCE 5700 ULTRA @535/1000 | Maxtor 6Y080M0 SATA 80 GIG | 512 DDR 400 | Windows Xp Pro | Windows Xp Pro 64 |

Hi, I have been trying this a few times. I have had the PMDG planes since they came out so I dont think im doing anything wrong or different to before im just simply trying to enter the temperature in 'c. I have tried all cominations and nothing works. The lowest I can enter is 16. When I enter 08 or 008 the fmc says invalid entry.RegardsDavid

Hi guys,Same problem here. 16 is the lowest I can enter. Any lower value will result in an invalid entry. Thanks for help!RegardsMark

Hi,In the SEL/OAT on N1 LIMIT page the lowest I can input is 16. I have not installed the patch.According to Mats: "The range has been narrowed to 16 to 70 degrees". Take a look at this post: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...50434&mode=full. The manual still says "Valid entries are one or two digit entries from 0 to 99".So I think the lowest you can input is 16.

Hi CaptainsI asked a very similar question on this forum about a week ago and was given the same solution - i.e. you can only input numbers from 16 upwards on the SEL field. What Randy is referring to is the default-set OAT (15), which can also be changed using the 'slash' key (e.g. /17 etc). The explanation I was given is that the '15' is the (assumed) temperature for the take-off runway which is normally the same as, or slightly more than the ambient outside temperature. Therefore, the value is rarely changed in the SEL field (as the OAT is 'sensed' by the plane's systems.)Because of this, PMDG restricted the inputs to values higher than the 'default' OAT of 15.A bit confusing I know - maybe PMDG will allow more (lower) input selections in an update.......?Hope this helps.Toni.

No this is way off here guys based on a missunderstanding.1] The OAT is changable, this is the RIGHT FIELD, not the LEFT FIELD. The left side is for tempt reduction and you always imput a GREATER value, not the actual value. Here on the right I selected 8 just like I stated you could....To further clarify, the SEL is to fool the FMS into thinking the tempt is greater so you use less thrust for TO. It is not meant to update the OAT and IS like the real FMC.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/77593.jpg[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
