May 30, 200422 yr The empty weight is 94580 lbs. The max ZFW is 140300 lbs. The max passenger load is 189. If you load max passengers you have only 11700 lbs for baggage. That works out to 62 lbs for each passenger. Are these figures correct? These figures are for the 737-900Ray51 - Premier Airways Driver
May 31, 200422 yr Ray51..yes you calculations are ( as far as I can see ) correct. You state that there is "only" 11700 lbs left for bags ? do you feel that this is not enough ? luggage weight depends on the route that you fly.. airlines do calculate average weights for passengers and bags..some passengers travel "light" and do not have any checked baggage and others may have heavy suitcases. That's where the "average" parts comes in.e.g. one airline that I know uses 11 kgs / 24 lbs for a domestic bag and 15 kgs/ 33lbs for an international bag. Each passenger carries on average 1.2 bags.. that means that on a full international flight (=189 pax) they would have 227 bags and a ttl bag weight of 7491 lbs. So there is capacity left for cargo /mail ( if your fuelload allows loading upto max zfw)Of course different airlines on different routes may use different weights and on airpors where scales are used with an automated check-in the airline does take the actual weight of the bags for the weight/balance calculations. The "average" calculations is used for airports where no actual bag weight is availableb rdgs / Dick=
