No altitude callouts after touch and go

Featured Replies

HiI just did some touch and go's and I noticed that after the first touch and go the altitude callouts were not working anymore. When doing the first approach there was no problem.Does anybody has the same problem?P.S. Flying the 737-900Best regards,

Hi,You have to be above 2500 feet for the altitude callouts to reset. I think this is true even for the real bird. Cheers,

Interesting question, Floris... Is the behaviour for T&G's different from Go Arounds?Does the GPWS system not give callouts, if say, you took off from an airport on the first flight of the day (powered up from a dead ship) and didn't climb to 3,500' because of, say, an engine fire (which wouldn't extinguish).... Would the callouts not sound as you approached for your emergency landing? Is there also an air/ground reset or a power off/on reset as well as a height reset?Cheers.Ian.

"You have to be above xxxx feet for the altitude callouts to reset."...where xxxx is the radio altitude, rather than the baro height.Cheers.Ian.

Well if you take off and have an engine failure, then you are just going to land first time and callouts are already armed, you have to reset them after landing - after they have already been called out one time on your flight.

"Well if you take off and have an engine failure, then you are just going to land first time and callouts are already armed,"Just rediscovered the following in our Boeing Maint manual... It says that the aural warnings are first armed when the aircraft ascends through 1000'. To reset the aurals after a go-around, you have to climb above the radio altitude where the first altitude callout occurs.I'd say that on our 737NG's that if you touched down, the GPWS system would need to see the 1000' altitude before it would re-arm. PMDG logic is based on a number of different airline's NG manuals however.Cheers.Ian.

Hi IanI did some testing and the reset will take place somewhere between 2000 and 4000ft (3500ft as lefteris said).1. Take off climbing to 3000ft2. ILS approach3. Normal altitude callouts4. Go around climbing to 2000ft (as published on the charts)5. New ILS approach6. No altitude callouts7. Touch and go, climbing 4000ft8. New ILS approach9. Normal altitude callouts10. Landing. So after initial climb (below reset altitude) the GPWS is still working. When doing a go around or touch and go, you will have to climb above 3500ft for a reset of the GPWS. (no difference between touch and go and go around)And thanks for clearing things up..Regards,
