June 29, 200421 yr I just purchased the 737-600/700. It seems to be a really great addon aircraft. I've been a big fan of PMDG since the old FLY days. They've always produced a quality product. My problem is that this thing is eating my system for lunch. I'm running a P4 2.4, Radeon 9500 with the latest drivers,512MB of memory. It takes a while for the aircraft to load in FS9,then my framerates are all over the place with random stutters and pauses. I have my sliders at mid-way and I've even tried turning my AI traffic down to zero. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
June 29, 200421 yr You shouldn't have such bad performances...Have you tried FS general tweaks like-render to texture off-3d cloud percentage 100%-FS Sky World texture packagesAnd many more available on the forums?I have a similar system, and with all sliders maxed out i do not have nearly as bad performances as you, must be something with your particular system. Are you running any other application together with FS ?
June 29, 200421 yr There's something wrong somewhere, and I doubt it's the PMDG. I ran it on a 2.2GHz at 24FPS with fairly high settings on a GForce 5900. Something is afoot. The PMDG I found only causes a very slight FPS drop and that's in the VC.I highly recommend that you run down the list of tweaks on the general MS FS hardware forum, a sticky I think on top has a good list of do's and dont's about FS. With 512Mb of memory, you may be running across excessive swapping, and I think the thing that worked for me best was to set the page file to "controlled by the system". The tweaks forum has a lot of ideas on that.Hope this helps.
June 30, 200421 yr Author Thanks for your help, I've used the tweaks that appear in the MSFS forum. I try to use FS Autostart to close down backround programs. It seems like I have a problem with the amount of time it takes for the textures to load. There also seems to be a lot of hard drive activity with the 737NG. I'm sure it's my system but I don't know where the bottleneck is.
