Manual Labour

Featured Replies

I love the 737 NG 600-900, and the manual is very comprehensive. Trouble is, trying to fly whilst screen-swapping to read the PDF is a real hindrance. I don't mind running off small manuals on my home printer to use, but to run this manual off on my inkjet will cost a small fortune. I spoke to someone I know in my local printshop, but they said that they couldn't print the manual off for me because of copyright. Is there any way that this can be addressed? Surley manuals of this size and complexity should be able to be p[rinted off once within the EULA?Cheers

That is really odd, I wouldn't think the copyright is a problem. Oh well, I am not a lawyer as has been proven several times in the past :)

There is no problem with copyright with regards to printing, as the manuals are available freely for DOWNLOAD from the PMDG website (as opposed to being viewable only in your browser). Of course, the manuals are still copyrighted, but you can freely print them out for your personal use.I would suggest you try another print shop and show them the PMDG website, that should convince them that printing out the manual is perfectly legal - I had no problems getting the PIC manuals printed by a local print shop in London.Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg

I know - makes no sense. It's the words 'Duplication of this manual is prohibited'in the Titles and Menus section which are causing the problem.

This doesn't apply to personal use - you can make as many copies for yourself as you want (as long as you don't distribute them). But if they want to be splitting hairs, don't ask them to print the manual, instead request that it be transferred to a different format, i.e. from CD to paper. They can destroy the CD after the manual was printed. In this case no duplication took place - you walked into the shop with a single copy of the manual on CD, and you walked out with still a single copy, only now it's on paper...Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg

ROFLWell that's what's called legal hair splitting, Wonderful, have to remember that.Cheers,

The daft thing is that I'll just go home and print the manuals out for myself - more hassle, less efficient, less environmentally clever, but same result - except tha they get no sale out of it. Their loss, I suppose - but it would be nice to have something in the manual/EULA to say that you can print the PDF out for personal use.
