Panel related question and comments

Featured Replies

Thanks for any advice in a advance.I have been using the PMDG -700 for a long time now and have been very happy with it. The handling is wonderful and I'm very comfy in the cockpit.I recently got the 800/900 and I feel like I've taken a step back to what I've been used to. The plane doesn't auto land the same, the spoilers are not pilot friendly anymore. I also don't enjoy the pitch issue I've seen with the 800/900's.My real question is if I go back and reinstall the -700 will it mess anything up? I want to be able to fly the -700 again with the old panel and still keep the 800/900's with the new panel cause I don't want to give up on it just yet. PMDG is a great company for sure so I want to make sure it's me and not just a plane not compatible with the pilot.Great work, I'm looking forward the 747.Cam DeLongwww.simsouthwest.comDirector of Western Hub Operations

Dear Cam-the 800/900 is an upgrade to the 600/700 package. As such, it adds on the experience of the 700 - if you wish to fly it with the "old panel" (which, incidentally, is the "new-style" for airliners), you can do so by selecting "PFD/ND" in the PMDG Styles menu. (There are tons of other options to choose from in there, so go crazy! :-) ).Best,

Another thing to keep in mind is that the way the 700 handles now is because of the real world pilots input. We might be comfortable with certain aspects and think change is somehow incorrect when really it's the other way around ;-). If there is a question about the AL system feel free to ask. There were some areas updated correctly like the DUAL CHANNEL kickin in at the right time etc..Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Thanks All...Last night I reinstalled the -700 and now I have the older panel on my -700 and the newer one on the -800/900.Like I say I will not give up on this plane by any means and Randy your are right.. Sometimes the change is because what we had before wasn't as realistic. Thanks for the responses. I will in fact keep flying the 900 and maybe I'll grow into it like I did the 700.. I should of waited to reinstall and now that I see this I wouldn't of had to do that...Thanks again. Great plane..A little quote I have that I tell other pilots who don't want to get this because they are scared of the FMC."Learning the FMC is hard but once you learn it flying is easier then it was before you had it."Cam DeLong
