July 12, 200421 yr I can't find any Sid/Stars when starting a flight from EHAM, Schiphol, The Netherlands. Are they just missing or have I missed an up-grade ?
July 12, 200421 yr >I can't find any Sid/Stars when starting a flight from EHAM,>Schiphol, The Netherlands. Are they just missing or have I>missed an up-grade ?The EHAM file has STARs and IAPs, no SIDs. You might check www.navdata.at to see if someone created and uploaded EHAM with more procedures in it.RegardsTerryPS. You didn't sign your message as per forum rules.
July 14, 200421 yr Thanks Terry, I will check www.navdata.Before Fs9 I used the Boeing 737 from Dreamfleet with a complete list of SID/Stars in their FMC.So I am a little disappointed not to see a complete list in the Boeings from PMDG. Gerrit Suichies
July 14, 200421 yr On the other hand GerryThe DF 734 procedures were hard coded and thus impossible to change or add any. And we all now that procedures change a lot!In the PMDG 737NG you have the possibility to make any procedures you like and customize them as you see fit.I'll say that flexibility far makes up for the bad coverage. :-)BTW. You know there's a lot of user made procedures at www.navdata.at?Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
July 14, 200421 yr Hi Gerrit. I understand but on the bright side the procedures you get are current and updated every 28 days. Also, many of the airports that are missing from the DAFIF have been made by other users and uploaded to www.navdata.at. Plus you can even put out a request and usually someone will step forward and design the airport/procedure needed thanks to the Terminal Procedures 'programming language' provided by PMDG.Happy flyingTerry
July 14, 200421 yr I know it's making it "as real as it gets", but... I personally find flying SIDs and STARs on the FMC disappointing, because I learnt to fly them by hand in other planes first. Doing this taught me what they are, how they are formed and ultimately how to read the tutorial on how to create them.Unfortunately due to a somewhat odd decision by boeing there is no B/C hold or REV in the AP on the NG (if tuned on an ILS), so flying a Full-procedure approach has to be down in part with the HDG hold and manually track the back course of the ILS. I don't think you can fly a non-percision back ILS landing either. Some of the SIDS and stars dont match up to the charts on www.ais.ork.uk either, some have glaring differences others, minor, which might just not be updated.Several procedures are missing from the PMDG FMC with regards to STARs and SIDs. Examples are DME ARCs and Procedural turns, however you can fool the FMC into flying them, ARCs you place fixes every 10 degrees or so, and a procedural turn you just use two points abeam each other and the turn rate should take care of the turn.
July 14, 200421 yr Hi Paul>Some of the SIDS and stars dont match up to the charts on>www.ais.ork.uk either, some have glaring differences others,>minor, which might just not be updated.I can do nothing about user made procedures uploaded to www.navdata.at but for the DAFIF based ones I provide I can look into this situation. If you let me know what the terminal procedures are that have glaring differences I can see what I can do for future updates. Just send me required data using the address listed in the "A Must Read This.TXT" file that comes with the procedures.>Several procedures are missing from the PMDG FMC with regards>to STARs and SIDs. Examples are DME ARCs and Procedural>turns, I include nearly all ARCs. However, since the FMC does not recognise ARCs they are not identified as such but only as a series of waypoints. What ARCs are missing? I do not include procedure turns because the FMC can not automatically execute them or display them.RegardsTerry
July 15, 200421 yr Hello PaulI have written most of the UK sid/stars available on the navdata site. I would appreciate any feedback to improve these and especially with regard to any glaring differences between the files and the charts.Simonhttp://homepage.ntlworld.com/simon.butler2...usefulfiles.htm
July 15, 200421 yr I'll get back to you on the glaring differences, as I can't recall which ones, was during a period of flying around the UK lots.ARC transitions are missing for both Belfast airports. I have started creating thw rnw 22 for EGAC for direct SE arrivals and can email it to you if you wish after a further test run.If you wish I will create all 4 arcs for the 2 airports as I fly in to them regularly (my home bases). At the said airports if you are not a direct arrival on the right arc you proceed to over head and fly the full procedure, I would like to include these, using the FMC 3 point turn method for the procedural turns.*edit* As an aside, is it going to far to ask for a "Vectors" transition like in the builtin FS GPS appraoches? Just wondering if it would be posible for the FMC fixes and headings to manage a vector from final enroute fix to ILS corridor. As I live directly under and a little east the EGAC SE 9DME arc for rnw 22 I can tell they generally don't follow the arc, but cut the corner off it, or fly direct to FAP, most likely on vectors from ATC.
