July 21, 200421 yr Can anyone tell me if you can simply purchase a package that will just download every single sid/star with their transitions available in the world. Would I then just need to update the FMC with the latest AIRAC NAVDATA cycle? How important is it to have the "latest AIRAC NAVDATA" cycle and if I'm using an old one, does it effect compatability with sid/stars or anything else? The reason I ask about the sid/stars is that there are so many missing. For example, I want to fly the ryanair route to LFMK Salvaza but there are no stars available (I can't even find a non precision approach for runway 28 in sim charts!! there seem to be plenty for 10).But its not just LFMK, there are many others not listed on navdata.at (has anyone compiled them all?). I do have jeppersen sim charts but wouldn't have a clue how to translate VOR/DME procedures onto the FMC.The only software I use is FS Build but I use this as a route builder that exports to PDMG FMC, but again SID, STARS are missing or incompatible. Is there one package that can just populate all FMC's with all the data I need to fly from one airport to another. Please help if you canSebastian
July 21, 200421 yr Hello Sebastian,I agree with you. I am disapointed when the FMC prompt -none-I use the fix page to create the missing Points in the flight plane. Same fixes also in the database (for example the IAF and the FAF). On short flights a lot of work.Best RegardsStefan
July 21, 200421 yr There's a solution-make your own SID/STARS and upload them to Navdata.at...John http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer
July 21, 200421 yr Jepp John, your right. For Airports you fly not only for one time the right way.More time for the coffee and a look for the air hostess ;-) Stefan
July 21, 200421 yr Sebastian,In addition to what have been said, there are not a complete procedure package for every single ap in the world. As you know, you have the user uploads at Navdata and the PMDG_SIDSTARS from PMDG and Terry Yingling. If the wp's, navaids etc referenced in the SID/STAR procedures are missing in the airac you'll get an error message. It's a good practice to have procedure files based on the same airac cycle. As far as I can see, there are no published approach procedure for rwy 28 at LFMK. As pointed out from the others here, it's fairly easy to write your own procedures, though it may be a lot of work. Anthony Merton has created an easy and straightforward language for the FMC, so you can use just text files created with Notepad. Terry Yingling has done an excellent tutorial on this, available in the library. If you give me a couple of days, I'll see if I can nail down some procedures for LFMK.... if there's interest for it.... http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/checkcapt.jpg
July 21, 200421 yr >Is there one package that can just populate all FMC's with all the >data I need to fly from one airport to another. There isn't, and the simple answer is cost, it would make the price of the package higher than developers feel Simmers would be willing to pay. And you'd still have to pay extra for future updates. Not worth it for PC Flight Simulation IMO.Maybe that will change in the future, but that is the case at the moment.Regards.Ernie.
July 21, 200421 yr You must remember that not all airports have SID/STARS. Most of the major airports will have them (SID/STARS were first used by the military). Besides, you can have a complete descent profile even with STARSNick B.Continental Airlines 737NG Pilothttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg--AMD Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.2 Ghz (Equal to 2.8 ghz)400W Power supply3x 80 mm Case FansSoyo VIA KT600 Dragon PlusnVidia GeForce FX 5200 128 mb2 x 512 PC400100 GB Western DigitalMicrosoft Sidewinder Precision 2
July 23, 200421 yr Hi again. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, the LFMK-Salvaza procedures are now ready for download at Navdata. FYI, I will also write the procedures for LFMP-Perpignan, will be ready in next week. http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/checkcapt.jpg
