About project after 747-400

Featured Replies

Hi all,Dear PMDG members: We all are still impressed (as you should know) with your great products for Flight Simulator.Since flying the PMDG 737 NG family has been (and still is) an excellent experience to us, it's normal that all of us do both, flying the 737 and thinking about what products are still to come.Usually some of us start a new thread with this issue. In a few hours, the thread has not less than 25 replies. And always the same thing happens...This is why I would like to suggest you a little *easy* thing: could you (PMDG members) please start a new poll in this forum so we can vote (simply vote, no comments) for one model?I really think this is the best option for both you and us.Thank you in advance anyway :-)Best regards,Himar

That is a great Idea Himar, I agree:P

Himar-Thanks for the idea....When the time comes to select projects after the 744- we'll solicit input from the community. The time for that will come later- as we prefer to focus our entire energy on the task at hand!

Hi Robert, Himar,Would you consider Robert, to include in the future project poll other ideas that has arise in previous threads? Actually, I think it would be better to create a different poll for projects that are not aircrafts, I think if you put them together in the same poll, the modules/utilities idea would not have the same attention as the aircrafts. For example, I suggested this a while ago:"Aside from your great airplanes, I suggest creating new add-ons (i.e. modules) for your existing ones, for example. Imagine a module that logs the use/misused of the B737. Something that logs a series of parameters (VS during landing, thrust settings, in flight turbulence, landing weight, even how fast the user moves the throttle, etc, etc, etc) and then creates "realistic" failures depending on the damage infringed on the airplane during previous flights, the user might have the ability to change some sort of setting to make the damage engine more sensible (we know the odds of a mechanical malfunction in a real airliner) making the probabilities of an in flight emergency more likely for a regular sim user. This module might also contain something like an Airline Simulation option, where we could be able to simulate the use of the B737 in an Airline environment, something like (among other things like simulating cost, revenues, etc) be able to fly the airplane from A to B, then we would be only able to fly it from B (and only :( to anywhere else, and so on, this feature coupled with a full ACARS system and in a virtual airline environment would be amazing. Another feature might be some sort of flight evaluation made by passengers (virtual passengers), depending on the smoothness of your flight,a virtual passenger might rate your flight, I think ATP simulator by Audilogic (or whatever) back in the 80s had this feature, it was pretty neat, it gave you a different reason for flying the airplane correctly. The idea is to fly the airplanes for some other reason than learning how to fly it and to look outside the cockpit window and enjoy the scenery. The idea is to fly knowing that if you don't do it correctly you might damage something that would cost you (or your virtual airline) thousand of dollars, euros, yens, etc; it would make you to fly correctly, smoothly and within your schedule if you want happy passengers. I hope you get the idea; it would be great if we start flying "non-perfect" empty airplanes, after all, we don't want to get bored of flying this great aircraft, do we?I hope you like the idea,...."The link to that thread is here http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...pe=search#51393 , and you can see there were a few that were interested in the idea (NJ Flyer, nandrzej), I think something like this will make our experience flying the sim more enjoyable, and for sure will take PMDG further ahead its competitors. I see something like this coming in the near future (we are already seeing something similar on the Aeroworx B200, that's the begining I think), I just hope that PMDG can implement something like this first, you already have the platforms (the B737 series and the future 747).Best regards,Carlos.

Hi Carlos,Great stuff here for sure !! LAGO did that for FS2002 it was called FS Maintenance. It even would ground the plane when Maintenance schedule was due. It was incredible !! I keep hoping they will update this for FS2004 but as of yet no word from them.I know we would love to see this at Carnival for sure !!!Regards,

There is a freeware ACARS on Avsim which logs descent rate at touch-down, spent fuel etc, I use it and find it pretty good and simple. But if you want an Acars that does everything, including winds aloft forecasts, land lights off at 10000ft, taxi speeds and hundreds more, visit the Aerosoft site and reach for your plastic.

Yeah, I've been following LAGO's development and the last thing they said is that they won't update nor create a new FS Maintenance for FS2004. :-( The only programs remotely close to what I'm suggesting are not compatible with complex add-on aircrafts, for me there is no point to use these programs with default "simple" airplanes. My idea is more specific for PMDG's products, I think they are one of the few companies able to do this project and be successful on it. I can't think of many people not buying this kind of add-on for their B737 series for example. I just hope they come up with this new technology before somebody else do.Best regards,Carlos.P.S: I really have something in mind, if there's somebody interested in my idea and want to put it to work, drop me a PM. Even though I'm not a programmer, I think this is do-able.

Thanks Howard, do you have a link to that freeware module? Also I've checked Aerosoft's site and can't find anything similar to what you said. Sounds interesting and would like to know if it works with complex add-on airplanes, and if it does, how much it logs, does it rate your flight based on several parameters? Does it let you simulate airlines schedules, etc? What I have in mind is something BIG that basically takes ideas from some others similar programs and previous flight simulators and also adds several new unique features.
