engine heat haze

Featured Replies

I know this might seem like a silly question, but is it possible to get engine/turbine heat haze showing on the ground after start-up whilst taxing on the ground ?regards Rob

Well apparently someone tried out this jetwash effect in the form of an Effects file. But it seems the frame rate hit was too much to even make it a plausible addon. But I have never seen this one, just what I've heard out on the airways.Cheers,Terence

Thanks Terence

The game "lock-on modern air combat" added the heat blur effect... It can be made with a DX9 video card (like the water refelection effects) without too much impact but it has to be coded directly in the sim, I think.... Let's wait for FS10.. :D Bye, Luca

I have seen the engine heat haze in Lock On also and it does look good! WOuld be nice to see it in the next version of Flight Sim or if some one can reproduce it earlier!!!CheersSteve

The thing I find a little unusual is we get the puff of smoke on engine start so why not a further extension of that. I alo know there is a download for engine haze for AI aircraft but I'm not sur if it works for PMDG airaftregards ROb

The Eurowings BAe-146 has a similar effect. NOt 100% realistic, but it looks neat so it is for sure possible to do it.:-)
