Good stuff on ths thread. I too was wondering why certain procedures are done in the startup mode. I prefer to learn the reasons why following a certain procedure is important and the theory supporting that procedure, rather than just learning a procedure by rote.

The manual does not have a step-by-step explanation of how to start the aircraft. It jumps from "Cleared for start" to "After Start."
