PMDG NG will not re-set normally after crashing plane

Featured Replies

The PMDG -600 NG does not re-set if I crash the plane during training flights. The monitor screen goes black and has only the FS9 bar at the top. As a result of this, I have to reboot FS9 and sometimes Windowx XP Home Ed.I've never had an add-on do this and I have a medium hi-end DELL, factory standard, with a ton of bells and whistles and good solid history running dual monitors. Also, when I reload a saved situation using the PMDG NG, the autopilot often goes mad if it was saved in the ON position, and crashes the plane. Or the heading goes nuts. So I have a double frustration in that case: no proper loading and no possibility of resetting without rebooting FS9 at a minimum. Is there a fix for this ?Thanks!Jonathan

It will re-set IF you wait long enough. This appears to be an issue with folks that do not have loads of RAM. If you have enough free ram it will be much faster... The saved state of this aircraft is not the best as it could be. What you will need to do most likely is to cycle through the A/P i.e. turn the switches OFF then ON. The only fix is1] Turn off crash detection2] Live with the saved state limitations Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Well, how long to wait? Normally, there is a wait of 1 to 2 minutes if I crash using something like Milton's Dash 7 with lots of scenery and UT running. But in those situation, you see things getting re-set. With this, it's just a blackout that lasts seemingly forever.I have 1024 Rambus RAM and using FSAutostart among other things, I normally have 850MB of free RAM prior to starting an FS session. FS uses around 260MB of RAM during an average session. I have observed that the CPU is often 99 to 100% utilized with FS going, and I wonder if perhaps the CPU is stretched out of its mind when PDMG crashes. Thanks for the post and advice. I guess it's a miracle that ANY of this works correctly at all !!Jonathan
